• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder Resell Question

If that's the case, it is unique the Spyder. Most bikes, it has little importance whether factory or not, as long as it's high quality. Typically winter is the wrong time to get the best price for any bike type vehicle. The very first day of warm whether and they will probably bite like flies...

    Indiana Roll Call W/Map

Lots of Indiana riders. I am just across the stateline about 40 miles( not too far from the Hoopeston poster (That's where we got our last rescue dog....well most recent). I head to Indy in March for the Hot Rod Trade show, if the weather is good I plan on taking the Spyder. Might run into some...

Spyder - Comfortable as your only vehicle?

After riding 2 wheels as primary vehicle for over 30 years, I'd have to say yes. If I didn't drop a bike in a foot of snow, I'd have to feel invincible on the Spyder in the same conditions. Now I work in a shop out my back door, so the rides to work that were neccesary at that point are just 20...

Reverse light comes on when going 80 +

As another new owner, I'm curious. Does the GPS actually have an impact on the running parameters in the computer?? I understand the possibilty of it triggering the light, but to make it also run a little erratic seems odd.

    Rear Wheel/Hub Install

I would have to agree, that is a little steep. I haven't had mine off yet, but have examined the set-up. I can't believe that it would take that much time for any experienced wrench.Around here, if you buy the tire from the shop, rear tire on a bike (I assure you it ain't that different) is...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

I actually find it an interesting tidbit that there are many Spyder riders with lower extremetie(?) injuries. Being in the bike business since 1969, I didn't see too many riders over the years with that type injury. The only guy I recall was right after leaving the AF in 1973, one of my new...

    Rear tire valve stem

I haven' gotten my service manual yet, nor have I had the rear tire/wheel off. However, it is a common device within virtually every motorcycle rear wheel, a cush drive. They are usually circular with hub pins that engage (primarily shaft drive) and rubber dampers that have small padddles that...

Auto Tire on Front of the Spyder

Or what type of vehicle I can or cannot ride/drive. I agree with the cost thing too, I don't recall anyone other than those critical talking $$$. I am and I think those others are talking about IMPROVEMENT. If you believe a mass produced vehicle is at the upper limit of developement, then...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

Both were used when I was younger, but during the 70s the "woodsy"(s) outnumbered the "woody"(s). I was living in a geodesic dome on a river at the time, and apparently some of the people that came out to check it out thought I was called Woodsy because I lived in the woods;). I found that out...

    Another overheated Spyder

I thought it looked to have originated in the fuel line area, but an "in person" inspection is the only way to say for sure. The comments regarding a fuel leak that had been looked at 3 times with no resolution seems to be a signicant point.

    The Spyder Computer?!

That seems a stretch, at least in the U.S. If something should happen to a rider because of a needed update and that wasn't available because the local dealer hadn't paid his "fee", I think Bombardier could lose a lot more money than any monthly fee could ever return. I also think it violates...

USER NAMES/HANDLES - What does yours mean? Where did it come from?

My name is Dave Wood, the nickname Woodsy got applied early on and I couldn't shake it. More people know me by Woodsy than my actual name. I specialize in 60s era Ford performance cars with a passion for 428CJ engines...hence woodz428

    MMG 30 tooth sprocket

There is a used on on one of the Spyder forums, he claimed the mileage was better with it. I think he said that he doesn't ride much in that rpm range so didn't feel it was an advantage. He said he was going to put it on e-bay.There is one there currently, not sure if that's it. It looked like...

    Heli-bar ????

No our Spyder hasn't displayed that problem. I was noticing a number of owners mentioning it on various forums and was curious as to how many had or didn't have Helibars, that were experiencing the issue. Since it doesn't seem to be a broad problem, I wondered if Helibars may have lessened the...

Auto Tire on Front of the Spyder

Regardless of the cost, I doubt that there is any signicant difference between a factory tire and a nice set of aftermarket ones. If you go to any major bike manufacturer and read their owner's manual, they suggest the same precautions and warnings against using anything other than factory...

    Heli-bar ????

I used to work for the dealership that handles Spyders(before there were Spyders) in Decatur,Il. I might ride over there when it gets a tad warmer( supposed to get back in the 40s next week) and see how the stock bars feel before removing the Helibars. My interest in the dps/Helibars...

    Heli-bar ????

Until the Spyder arrived, I wasn't sure "exactly" what Heli-bars were. Although they seem like a well executed accessory,I'm not sure I like them that much. I'm tall and used to Sportbike type riding style( even converted my '77 wing into a sport touring), these seem to be a more upright...

    Body panel fit?

Our 2008 Spyder was delivered 2 days ago and I have been looking it over, setting and adjusting anything I feel needs it. One thing that I noticed( I can be pretty anal about this stuff) is the fitment of the side panels to the top panel under/behind the bars. The is a noticeable gap and what...

    Rear tire valve stem

Oddly enough I noticed the same thing when I set tire pressures today. I was able to push the stem over enough to use the factory pressure gauge inside of the rear cog. I had to fish the air hose through the wheel and then air it up. Pretty poor design for something that should be checked...
