• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another company to make a reverse trike?

I have to respectfully disagree with my friend on this. BRP did the heavy lifting which in a way makes it easier for the next entrant in the market. BRP defined the market and demonstrated the depth of consumer acceptance. They worked out the price points and the cost structure. They created an...

    Hit another milestone

Congratulations! I have noticed that work interferes with life. Work less and ride more.

    Fire update

My fire was reported to BRP (with pictures). No one looked at my Spyder after the fire, not BRP, and not the insurance company. I am absolutely certain of this. I had control of the Spyder until it was picked up by the salvage company (junk yard). I had an opportunity to talk to someone from the...

HID light install and stalling question...

I have had the HID lights (headlight and foglight) from ESI on both of my Spyders without any of the problems you describe. I do remember reading on this forum that the location of the ballast module is important. It should not be making direct contact with the frame, or be placed too near the...

Cold weather and rain gear in VA

I vote for the electric jacket liner and suggest you keep it close to your body with no more than the thickness of a long-sleeve t-shirt between you and the jack liner. You don't want to insulate yourself from the source of the heat. Additional layers can be added on top of the jacket liner. A...

    Life expectancy

I have serious doubts about 300,000 miles on any motorcycle engine. My personal goal is to get 150,000 miles on my Spyder before major work on the engine is required. I am more than half-way there. Some laugh at me when I say 150,000 miles. We shall see.

    OK what is it

Car tires, especially on the front, provide much better handling and cornering. For me, this easily out-weighs the stickiness factor. For some of us, the OEM tires had a pronounced tendency for excessive wear on the inboard side of both front tires.

    Fire update

I am very comfortable with the thought that my risk for another Spyder fire is quite low. Mine was the first reported fire and we cannot know the exact cause. However, since then, we have learned much. There is good reason to believe the cause was related to the evaporative canister. My second...

    Fire update

I had the first fire on May 4, 2009. I took delivery of my new Spyder on May 15, 2009, with absolutely no regrets! I am looking forward to getting my third Spyder.

This thread is a good example of why Spyderlovers is such an extraordinary creative resource. I would be lost in the wilderness without you guys.

    Mystery Solved

Final Disposition of the Tires I put new tires on the front today - same tires as above. I had 42,000 miles on the old ones. Pictures of the old tires are below. The pictures seem to support my hypothesis that the excessive wear on the OEM tires was due to the poor quality of the OEM tires and...

Doesn't the RT already have helmet locks under the seat?

    Stopped at Cowtown

Route 66 actually begins in downtown Chicago at the Lake Michigan shore. It ends in Santa Monica California at the Pacific ocean. I think this is about 2,300 miles. The HOG base camp was in Tinley Park Illinois, just outside of Chicago. Since I live in one extreme corner of the United States, I...

    Stopped at Cowtown

I just returned home from doing Old Route 66 with HOG (Harley Owner’s Group). There were more than 360 Harley riders and one Spyder rider. For me, the ride was 6,950 miles and 26 days. On the way home I made an unexpected side trip to Englewood, Colorado to visit my daughter and grandson. This...

    MOST MILEAGE

I believe my total Spyder riding miles are the highest - currenty at 107,000+ miles (two Spyders). It looks like Nick has the most miles on one Spyder and Doc has the most miles on one engine. I have the most miles on two Spyders.

    DPS Recall in PDF form

Looks like the freeze on my new RT will be lifted I have frequently said that I would not buy a new RT until BRP explained what caused the steering disease and what the remedy will be. This is very good news for me, indeed.

    Mystery Solved

It would be nice to hear from other Spyder owners who have experienced excessive wear on the inboard side of both tires. From time-to-time, there have been comments on this site concerning this problem. I agree that my theory is in jeopardy, if I eventually get the same wear pattern as the OEM...

    Not again!?!?!?!?!?

I had the same problem on both of my Spyders. BRP covers it under the warranty, but this doesn't make it O.K.
