• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Colorado anyone?

I just got back from a trip through AZ, NM, CO, UT, & NV, in my pickup truck, not my Spyder :( I traveled well over 2500 miles and I only saw one Spyder the whole trip. That surprised me because I expected to see more of them now. The one I saw was somewhere around Colorado Springs while I was...

Mounted my CHad from NMN but parts error

Way cool Magic Man. BTW - I used Bone Crusher's e-mailed outline for trimming. I like the way it still leaves a fair amount of flat line on the top, rather than rounding the whole top. Looks good on my Spyder and works well, at least for the short "test" ride I went on. Instead of using a band...

Mounted my CHad from NMN but parts error

All went well with mounting the CHAD, after I trimmed the top corners as others have done. However, there is an error in the parts call-out. The parts list says there are 8 rubber washers 1/16" thick and 4 rubber washers 1/8" thick. It is exactly the opposite. So I had to use the eight 1/8"...

    Trailer question, which one.

I got the Kendon folding trailer that is 6' x 8' unfolded. The thing I like most about it is that when folded it stands upright against the wall of my garage taking up very little room. I've attached a photo of the Spyder on the Kendon trailer behind my hitch rack with my '47 Matchless.

    relays, always carry a spare!

When I went to AutoZone they were out of the Duralast relay but that was several weeks ago and he said they would be getting more in stock so I'll check back again soon.

Windshields (I know it's been asked a million times but....)

It wasn't NMN that was flakey about the credit card order, it was Industries 7. Now that NMN is selling the CHAD, I've already ordered one from them. I posted (a while back) all the stuff about how Industries 7 didn't pass the "smell test" and I bailed out. Better to be safe than sorry...

    relays, always carry a spare!

How much are you going to charge the poor devil? I think something like that is in direct proportion to the number of miles from civilization, isn't it? :helpsmilie:

HOW TO MAKE THE TRUNK STAY OPEN

5/8" ID, 3/4" OD (wire is 1/16" dia.) x 2-1/4" L The length of my spring is now 2-1/8" after being compressed. I beg to differ with BoneCrusher, the silicon is easier than bending the spring and messing with the nuts. Just squirt some around the nuts, place the spring on the silicone and close...

Windshields (I know it's been asked a million times but....)

OK, thanks. Now I will remember NMN as the place to order the CHAD. I tried to order one from Industries 7 back when the CHAD was just coming out. I got scared away (to protect my credit card) by some strange dealings by them or someone posing as them. I posted all about it back then.

HOW TO MAKE THE TRUNK STAY OPEN

Yeah, I used the silicone also (actually it was a marine sealant but similar). No bending or tweaking of the spring. Now I always expect the lid to pop every time I operate the key that way and it hasn't disappointed me yet, over many months.

I guess BRP doesn't know I already own one

Way cool replies. Everybody gets :firstplace: MY biggest surprise, with stuff from BRP, was when that great silver riding jacket arrived months before my Spyder was available - no charge, free, gratis,..... The dealer called and said come pick up your free jacket from BRP. I use it a bunch.

Windshields (I know it's been asked a million times but....)

I've asked this before but I forgot the information that was posted in reply. :opps: Where is the best place to buy the CHAD?

I guess BRP doesn't know I already own one

I keep getting promotional mail from BRP trying to induce me to take another Spyder test ride. Hell, I "test" ride my own Spyder all the time :dontknow: Actually, I think the problem stems from them having my full first name recorded as a Spyder owner, and my shorter name "Frank" as the guy who...

another spyder addicts ryde is in the books

Here is a photo I took after I modified the front end for a hydraulic disk brake. Now I'm not afraid to ride in traffic because it no longer takes a city block to stop the bike. :ohyea:

another spyder addicts ryde is in the books

I thought seriously about riding to the event at Anaheim Stadium, since I'm nearby, in Newport Beach. However the confusing roads and the traffic around the stadium has never been one of my favorite things, so I decided not to deal with that on my Spyder. I also wanted to finish putting my 1947...

    Heat-sink paste

I've used the white heat sink paste, on actual heat sinks, for years in the electronics industry. Any of the silicone based, white pastes, should do the job. Retired engineer - thought this stuff was behind me - never would have to think about it again.

Lamonster Oil Change the easy way

The pans on my SM #3003 looked identical to Lamonster's photos. When I first started looking I was looking too far forward and didn't see them until I looked at the furthest aft pans behind the engine.
