• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Hand Brake

That being said there are several people who came up with alternate ways of installing a hand brake. welcome Search the other postings on this subject here under "Shop Talk", to see what some of us have done to fabricate our own handbrake systems. That may not help you if you are looking for a...

    Motorcycles vs Spyder

When I built my dual-sport Yamaha TWTrikes sometimes I would get; "why'd you add an extra wheel to a perfectly good motorcycle"? From a motorcycle guy. I'd tell him that; "it isn't a motorcycle with an extra wheel, it's a Jeep that's missing a wheel and has a motorcycle seat". When a biker...

Hydraulic Handbrake Alternative, And Alternative to Cables

I'm glad to see some kits on their way to market. I'll have to admit that I have carried some guilt feelings for not making parts for others but I just don't have time to do that. I can't seem to get to the things I want to do for myself. :sour: I hope these guys are coming out with some good...

Lamonster Oil Change the easy way

Wow! I'm definitely going to do this, since I'll be riding in the desert this summer. I also have the same question; which pieces are refered to as the "splash Pans"?

Route to BRP event in LA & Back

I live in Newport Beach, if you guys (& gals) plan a ride that comes down this way I could jump on and ride all or part of it. So far, I've only ridden my Spyder along with groups of two wheel bikes or alone (except for the Mt. Palomar ride with Lamonster). It would be great to ride in a group...

Lamonster Oil Change the easy way

Lamonster - did the Spyder run cooler with the splash pans off? Have you previously posted a thread about this? Frank

    You got to love Rednecks

Wouldn't take long for the cactus (and rocks) around my desert cabin to do a number on those "tires".

How fast can Spyder really take a curve? Fess up.

Because I'm always switching between my Spyder and one of the TWTrikes I built (see profile photo) I probably take the curves slower in the Spyder than I otherwise would. However, I do take them faster in the Spyder than on one of my TWTrikes. The dual-sport trikes I built are much lighter than...

    Key locked in trunk!

BTW - I'm sure glad that BRP didn't clamp the end of the cable housing or pulling on it wouldn't have released the latch. We are not actually pulling on the cable directly but pulling on the housing pulls it back and ultimately then pulls the cable itself which releases the latch. :2thumbs: A...

    Key locked in trunk!

I was on San Diego County highway S-2 (Anza-Borrego Desert). I have property and a cabin in Canebrake, also on S-2, but 25 long, lonely, miles from where I locked the key in the trunk. :( The buzzards would have been circling soon. All's well that ends well. Thanks everybody...

    Surprise--spyder on TV

I've seen a lot of Spyder commercials lately on CNN. Kind of neat to see our Spyders going "main stream".

    Key locked in trunk!

My undying thanks to the persons who posted awhile back about getting into the trunk when you have locked the key in there :banghead:  Now I've done it! I was out on a lonely desert highway when I stopped to look at an old ranch. I put my helmet in the trunk of the Spyder and walked...

    Spyder, reputation for unreliability?

:agree: That is very scary! I can't help but think about this now, when I'm rounding a tight curve in the mountains.

    Spyder, reputation for unreliability?

I guess the thing that worries me about the possibility of poor reliability is that I ride in very remote areas often times and I'm by myself. I'm sure there are many others on this forum that do the same thing. It would be nice to have "the warm fuzzies" about the machine I'm riding. If I do...

    Spyder, reputation for unreliability?

More to the point, the steering issue alone would make this bike unsuitable for a rental bike. Good point. I wonder if that is what most of their troubles have been? It would be great to be able to question someone at the rental outfit but at this point I don't know them.
