• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    BRP Hand Brake?

I'm in the process now of implementing the design posted on this forum by "Nexus". I have just received both the master cylinder and the "push" slave cylinder. I like the solid feel of a hydraulic system so I'm going with that, even though it is more expensive.

    Santiago canyon ride, CA

I wish I had known about the Butterfield Stage route ride. I have a place in Canebrake, on highway S-2. I go out there for about a week every month. In November I was there with my Spyder (trailered it out there). I don't know if your ride was the same time I was there but if it was, it sure...

    hand brake survey

A hand brake would not remove the Spyder from not requiring a motorcycle license in California. It would still be defined as a motorcycle, which it is even now, but having three wheels exempts it from requiring a motorcycle endorsement on the CA drivers license. Having a hand brake certainly...

    Passenger love handles

I find mine (on the Spyder, not me) handy for times that I just want to set my helmet down for a short time and don't want to bother opening the trunk, or if the trunk is full. If I partially set the helmet on one of the handles or better yet put the chin strap around a handle it is convenient...

    Spirit Bell

Mine was given to me by a friend. I hang it from the reverse lever on my Spyder. I also move it (when I remember) to whatever bike I'm about to ride. My antique British bikes have so many levers on the handlebar that there is no problem finding a place to hang it on those. :)

    42 cent mirror extension!

Yes, metric threads go by distance from crest to crest so 1mm is smaller than 1.25mm and therefore a finer thread.

Hydraulic Handbrake Alternative, And Alternative to Cables

Bad start continuing! I ordered the master cylinder and went to pay through PaytPal. However I had not changed from my old e-mail address so i figured that the effort to pay there was for naught. So then I went back to MikesCX web account page and gave my payment information there. Shortly...

Hydraulic Handbrake Alternative, And Alternative to Cables

Getting off to a bad start here! I ordered the slave (push) cylinder on ebay and everything went Ok until it arrived. They sent the wrong cylinder (a pull type with non-adjustabl mounting)! When I called on the phone, a guy who sounded like he had just woken up, finally confirmed that they had...

Hydraulic Handbrake Alternative, And Alternative to Cables

Ok, I've ordered the slave cylinder so I'm "on my way" with this project. :2excited: The ebay site said only one was available. I wonder if I got the last one, or does the seller just list them one at a time? Thanks again, nexus!

    I'm beginning to wonder

Hi Sara (I have a grand-daughter of the same name only with the "h" on the end) I live in Newport Beach, the town you rode in. Too bad we didn't meet on the road. I have had my Spyder since April and I love it. I haven't done any mods except the factory 1" bar riser (I'm 6'3"). I only have about...

Hydraulic Handbrake Alternative, And Alternative to Cables

How about a source and part number for your slave cylinder? To me that is the tough part to find one the right size. There are probably some ATV master cylinders that would work also, with enough volume, because they drive two front wheel disks. That is what I used on my TWTrike conversions. Frank

    Lamonster Hand Brake

I haven't looked in on this forum in awhile but this time I wanted to see what new posts there might be about adding a hand brake to the Spyder. It was interesting to see the posts about the use of front brakes on two wheel bikes. This was because I just finished converting my 1947 Matchless...

    Do you have power steering?

I've been wondering about my power steering for some time now. I have done the test many times, on starting the engine, and it does make a difference but it sure has a lot of bar pressure on curves when I'm riding. Lamonster, I should have tried yours that day we rode Mt. Palomar. I haven't had...

    leaning a spyder

When people look at my Spyder and ask; "what is it"? I tell them it's a snowmobile with wheels. They always understand that description and they stop thinking of it as a motorcycle with an extra wheel. Of course if you look at my profile photo you can see I had gotten used to these questions...

Just got the bad news about Lamonster's Dad

Lamonster, I'm so glad that you got out here to visit your folks, last August. I got to visit my dad the day before he died, not realizing it would be our last visit together. Think of that beautiful day of riding MT. Palomar to fill your mind with better times. Frank

    Helmet buffeting (Turbulance)

I'm waiting for the fully adjustable windshield that Industries7.com will have available soon. A prototype was evaluated by someone on this forum (some time back) and it sounded like the best Spyder windshield yet. It's adjustable for different riding conditions. The height and angle are both...

    Secret Motocycle Wave

I've noticed that riding my Spyder in the open country almost always results in the "two finger & palm below the bar" wave. In the city traffic (Calif) with so many motorcycles there are very few waves. However, lately I have noticed the raised fingers while still holding the grip wave. This...
