• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2010 Photo Scavenger Hunt

A quick scan of the required items reveals several that may preclude us Downunder. Downunder, an Indian Reservation is a table pre-booked at an Indian Restaurant. However we have do have native areas (Aboriginal - Koori c/f Eskimo - Inuit). International border crossing is also a bit of an...

    Roadster or Trike?

Generally I found that VW / Subaru powered trikes get to ride at back (unless they are ride leader) whilst converted bikes ride anywhere in the pack. Not a lot of difference with a modified bike-into-trike and a bike and chair. Following a 250cc Yamaha Virago trike is easier to see around than a...

    Roadster or Trike?

I've had same issue with the rooster tail in the rain. Normally I'm asked to ride last. So many people in tin-tops cut in behind me and in front of the person behind just to have a look at the Spyder. Hence, unless it's wet, I get to be tail-end charlie.

    Heated grips- what's best?

86 F o/night last night here and just on 100F today. See Port Augusta was 117 F. I got Oxfords. Needed them this time last year when I went to a rally at foot of Snowies.

    Heated glove question

Needed opposite riding gear here today. Last night the minimum was 30 and today max was about 38. However that was not degrees F. It was degrees C. Tad warm and it's still spring here. Not even summer. I guess some Texans and others from down south can relate to being too hot to ride rather than...

    Heated glove question

Put on some Oxford heated grips about 12 months ago. Just great even in 30-32 F. Best part of Spyder in winter is I've never had cold feet or knees riding it as I do on two wheels. A "turtle fur" balaclava that I bought about 10 years ago is probably one of the best bits of winter kit I've...

Other Rear Tires, Questions and reviews

Problem with goo is it not only seals the puncture but the valve as well. Cannot pump your tyre up again. It's a once use thing but it is handy. Used it on a push-bike several times and a motor-bike (with an inner tube) once.

Other Rear Tires, Questions and reviews

Got 10,000 mi on first Kenda and 9,400 mi on the second. Have just put a Toyo Proxes 4 on. Both my tyres wore in the centre despite running low pressures. A friend following me one day said every time I went round a corner (in suburbia), and gave the Spyder a fistful, the tyre would spin up...

    Front Tires

175/60-14 is a Toyo http://www.toyo.com.au/PCRPDFs/TPG.pdf and the dimensions to a 165/65-14 are very close. However, not sure if this Toyo is still available. Not sure of costs in US$, but the rear cost me AU$185 but I had to take rim in. The Kenda was $350 to take rim in or $400 fitted...

    Front Tires

Put a Toyo car tire on back. Works fine. However 165/65-14 car tires don't have an appropriate speed rating. Only come with a T-rating. Can get a 175/60-14 (H-rating). Has anyone tried this size? Do they have appropriate clearance?

    Screen Repair

Repaired the screen with something called JB Weld. Used it before. Then I sanded down the outside of the screen with 800 grain wet & dry and painted it matt-black. A bit rough but a blind man would be glad to see it. Just want a nice big Spyder pic on it now. Also made some leather washers from...

    Screen Repair

Didn't find anything at your suggested site but it was a big, big hint as to where to start. Looked up Makrolan (Bayer). Essentially, I don't think you are actually supposed to repair it. How was Imbil? I was camping next to Dave (aka Davorallyfan). He went south instead of north. We had a big...

    Screen Repair

Not sure what the BRP screen is made out of but it's nowhere near as good as the after-market I have on my Yamaha Roadstar and the OE on my GSXR750. The BRP screen is actually pitted and permanently stained from road grime. That's why I take it off to clean it as best I can. Too hard to clean...

    Screen Repair

Some time ago, I took the screen off to clean it and managed to tighten the bolts too hard and cracked the screen. Used a fibreglass repair kit at the time. Now I've had to take screen off again to clean properly and the fibreglass repair has just disintegrated as I took screen off. Any ideas...

What's best for Cleaning the Windshield? Anyone use Pledge?

My wife makes up a mixture for cleaning (mainly glass) that consists of ammonia, methylated spirits (a.k.a. metho - 95% ethanol) and water. It's the same mixture that was used to wash car windscreens when done manually (decades ago) then put in the washer bottle prior to ready made additives...

Found a coolant puddle under my Spyder...

Good to see you've found and fixed the problem. At least it wasn't someone pouring a bit of coolant, or a bit of oil, or some metal filings, under you machine and you searching for something that hasn't actually happenned.:gaah:

motorcycle and atv shops shuting down..no one wants can-am

Downunder, motorcycle shops seem to be in a bit of a turmoil too. Major manufacturers are putting the screws on franchisees (floor stock, parts stock, signage etc.) such that several have given up franchises. Some dealers who were poorly managed or not prepared for a downturn have gone bust...

Update number 2 on overheating RT in Aus

Pogo. Was all packed last week to go on a big road trip to Imbil (~1700kms x 2) via Newnes (Christmas Rally). However, things didn't go as planned. Bad planning and running out of time to get home again. Off to Fish Holes instead (~400km x 2) . 3 Spyders there last year. Posted some pics...

Update number 2 on overheating RT in Aus

Got the steering update done back about 1st September. A couple of days later, the steering would "lock" when going straight. I had to fight it to turn left. Did this for about 100 km or so. Finally did a bit of a slalom in and out the white lines up the middle of the road (when I hoped no one...
