• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyders and Valkyries

A Valk will always win the traffic-light derby. Seen lots of young guys on R1s, GSXR1000s and CBR1000s take on a conservative looking older-guy on a Valk (though it has to have an after-market pipe) and just get blown away. The wildest looking bike I've ever seen was a customized Valk that was...

    What kind of Jack?

Unless your wheels are off, dropping the Spyder off a stand is not that critical. A tripod generally lands well. Now dropping a bike off a stand is not a pretty sight.

    What kind of Jack?

I'm just using my manual scissor lift that I also lift my Yamaha XV1600 with. Got it from a Harley shop about 10 years ago. Not many jacks drop low enough to get under the Spyder. However, to get the back wheel out, I had to use the scissor lift, then once up in the air, use a small hydraulic...

    Good Day - Bad Day

Always thought it was "men chunder". According to legend: Horses sweat, Men perspire and Women Glow. Glow is just a polite term for women looking hot and sweaty. Seen the video clip: Eric Prydz - Call on Me (uncensored version - raunchy, not that bad)? You'll know what I mean.

    Good Day - Bad Day

Here is the light. It's just a link as I've forgotten how to embed a pic. http://users.tpg.com.au/dicko51/Reverselight.jpg The original as the US model appears different. http://users.tpg.com.au/dicko51//IMG_0503.jpg

    Good Day - Bad Day

Bad. Got hit in the tail on my Spyder last week. Broke my reversing light. Culprit took off without giving me all his details. What he did give me turned out false. But I did get his registration number. Was initially worried either the car or plate was stolen. Good. An excuse to get a better...

    Loctite

Try Permatex black windscreen sealant for that. There is probably a Loctite equivalent sealant.

    Loctite

The Spyder manual suggests Loctite 243 (blue) just about everytime a threadlocker is used. There is also 242 (blue). Yesterday I saw a bottle of 243 being used but it was red. Loctite 271 is supposed to be the Red one. When taking the back wheel off yesterday (for a new tyre), the threadlocked...

    Go Cats (Austfalian Football)

Go Cats. Geelong (the Cats) won the Australian Football League (AFL) premiership today. Some interesting stats: Australia has a population of approx 20 mill. At the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) today, 100,000 people watched the final live. That made the MCG Australia’s 12th biggest city...

    Front Tire Feed back

Me too. A "190kph tyre" means something like sustained speed for a time period (say 1 hour). Even though I don't ride at sustained speed of 190kph for an hour (or even get to that speed), I do ride at 110-120kph for up to 2 - 2.5 hours (or the tank runs dry - damn). And that can be as bad...

    spy in china

True story. When you do business in Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan etc.), it's good business practice to shake with right hand and swap business cards with the other. Most English people get an Asian translation on the back of their normal cards. One particular person made a bit of a prick of...

    Front Tire Feed back

Thanks for all that. Even using car tires as an alternative, I've not found any tires (cars or otherwise) that carryover their pattern, speed rating or carrying capacity from 14 to 15". Seems that up to 14, vehicles are conservative and 15+ is the hooligan size.

Ride it like you stole it. No heat problems then.

    Front Tire Feed back

Has anyone fitted other than Kenda tyres to the front? The only 165/65/R14 car tyres that I can find are only a T rating (190 kph). The Kenda are H (210 kph). However in some tyre catalogues, 175/60/R14 are suggested as an alternative size and these are H rated and a lot cheaper than the Kenda...

    Wiring Diagram

I obtained both a Full Yamaha Manual (circa 2000) and a Honda General Manual (circa 1998) on disk many years ago. Both came from dubious sources. To read the Honda manual I have to set my PC date to 01/01/80. The Yamaha manual has since "expired" and I cannot open it. The data files in both...

    New Mods from Australian Spyder

Hope you were lucky enough (as I was) to get your goodies from the US while the exchange rate was in the 92-95 cent range rather than the current 62-65 cent range. I'm just out of Melbourne. Put some Oxford heated grips on last week and needed them a few days later riding near Mt Baw Baw...
