• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    new rear tire

Regularly meet a chap who tows a trailer with his Spyder. Rear tyre worn out after 15,000km. Front OK. He'd just put a Toyo Proxes T1-R on the back last time I met him (about 3 weeks ago). Hope to catch up with him again in about 3 weeks. The Toyo cost AU$179 fitted. The Kenda costs AU$400...

    Pivot Points

Other than foot pegs and swing arm are there any other pivot points that should be lubricated after washing or at regular intervals? The manual only mentions the pegs and arm.

    Black Magic

What are people using on the matte black surfaces? Mine have a whitish oxide on them, especially around the headlights and it's not recommended to use a polish.

    Rear View Camera

With my luggage (particularly a swag) across the back seat, I cannot see a thing. Just toying with options. Saw a 'busa with the mirrors removed and two rear view LCD screens and cameras. Doubt if I'll ever do it but just curious if anyone had used such a system. Suspect the smaller screens...

    Share pictures of trunk&trunk lining/mods

Very good. My trunk is a mess. Like the false bottom and use of velcro. Got carpet squares stuck to my shed wall and velcro lots of stuff to these bits of carpet. Have velcroed a watch to a bike that doesn't have a clock in the instrument cluster. I guess putting 30 cans of beer and a bag of...

    Rear View Camera

Cost seems to run from AU$170 and upwards depending wired, wireless and screen size. The sample I posted is AU$260. Given other electronic device pricing (Australia vs US on GPS etc.), this probably equates to about US$85 for basic to US$130 for one pictured. Not sure how well the LCD will go...

    Rear View Camera

Has anyone considered installing a reversing camera connected to the tail light rather than fit mirror extensions? http://www.footprintsecurity.com.au/Car_reversing_system_Detail.php Have seen customized & concept bikes where this has been done (no external mirrors at all).

    tank bag install

Tank bag mount was easy. It was the bag itself that was hard. However I found that unzipping the bag itself before trying to fit it the first time made a big difference.

NUMBER ONE UPGRADE FOR THE SPYDER...

I've used AdAware to clean the message et al. and then wander all over the internet. Nothing. As soon as I get back to this topic, the message appears. Guess I'll have to use AdWare again.

NUMBER ONE UPGRADE FOR THE SPYDER...

As many have said, it's a personal preference thing. However, I've got: Cover: Great value given the investment you've made and dependening on where you store the Sypder. Even in a shed, birds still manage to put a deposit on the Spyder. Seat Skin: Given I put a hole in my original that black...

    SpyderRyder Welcome Package Arrived!

Got the Spyder in May. Not a Special Edition. My package that arrived a few weeks ago consisted of a Tank Bag, two baseball caps (one black, one white) and a USB key with all the promotional material that was on a CD in the Spyder's trunk when I bought it. Hint: If you get a Tank Bag, have the...

    Oil Filter

FYI. BRP part # 420956745 has “Rotax RB-X341” stamped on it as those who’ve done their own oil change will have noticed. This part also appears to be used in the new Rotax-engined Buell 1125R and is now used in the Aprilia 1000cc bikes. However older Aprilias need a new end-cap (as per the...

    Polished Stainless Exhaust pics!

Heard a Triumph Rocket III with a 3-1 pipe and a chrome $80 car muffler on it. It was awesome. I had similar on a Yamaha 650cc V-Star many years ago. Cost $70 for the pair but they were very heavy. The V-Star at full noise provided a bit of sound for a documentary. In one scene, the visual was a...

BRP Spyder parts listing and break-out drawings

Thank you very much for this. It's the type of info you don't really appreciate until several years down the track when things start to break and/or wear out and need replacing. I will back it up to a CD/DVD along with similar info I have for my other bikes and retrieve from time to time.

    Oil Change Frequency

Thank you gentlemen for a most informative reply. I will stick to the regular schedule. The addition of the gear box and the fact that a bike revs harder that a car was always going to make some difference. Got the oil. A friend organized a bulk-buy at a significant discount from a local...

    Oil Change Frequency

Does anyone know why the Spyder Oil change is at such a short interval? Is it a hang-up of BRP because all their other Rotax powered vehicles (SeaDoo, SkiDoo, Quads etc.) run in extreme conditions? Because of tighter manufacturing tolerances, higher quality materials and highly refined oils...
