• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    K&N Part Numbers

The K&N website doesn't appear to have been updated to include the Spyder although I have seen posts that mention buying K&N filters. Does anyone know the K&N part number for the oil filter (Spyder - 420956745) and air filter (Spyder - 707800188)? Thanks.

Review Time: 3 Months & 10,000 kms later

Oops. I thought 'the odd fang or two' was also a US term as well as Australian and English. "Fang" usually means 'fast trip, pushing a little harder than usual'. A quick fang is a faster than normal fang but only a short distance. There, you've just be edumecated in Strine.

Review Time: 3 Months & 10,000 kms later

The Spyder is 3 months old today and I rolled over 10,000 kms yesterday. Time for a review. From my point of view, if I were to compare the Spyder to a class of bike I’d say it was a sports tourer. It’s the same class as the bike that it shares its engine. I rode the Aprilia a few years ago...

    XL Biker's Friend

Careful that the front D-Ring doesn't rub a hole in your seat. I just wore a hole in my Spyder seat with a large carry-bag and had to buy the seat-skin to hide the hole. Most people that I ride with who strap something to their pillion seat put a towell on their seat first to stop any chafing...

    Bureaucracy gone mad

In answer to some of the above: The black/grey bag is a waterproof bag that I got from an Outdoor/Hiking shop. Cannot put plate at side here as far as I know. Cannot make own plate. A reason plates are embossed (stamped) is so that if the vehicle is involved in a fire and the paint burns...

    Bureaucracy gone mad

In the State of Victoria (Australia), a Spyder must be registered as a car (> 2 active wheels) but you need a bike licence to ride it (< 4 wheels). Go figure. So you get issued with a ridicuously wide car plate. Which then dies of fatigue. However, the law states that a plate must be...

note Re brake squeek issue sent to dealers today

I've come to the conclusion that my brakes only squeek when I'm pulling up not dead straight. My brakes do squeak but only pulling up at roundabouts (veering as stopping) and as I stop in my drive (need to veer left as I stop) and other places where I'm not pulling up straight. Braking on an...

    exhaust gasket

Not sure exactly what sort of gasket you need. e.g. The Hindle doesn't actually need a gasket but it does need some gasket goo/sealant to make a good seal. I've used the sealant on the Hindle for the Spyder and on any other bike whenever I've changed mufflers. It's available in a tube at any...

    seat skins ??

Skin not really cheap but as I'd managed to rub a hole thru my original with some incorrectly packed luggage, I really had no choice. Black windscreen sealant works but you can still see it. The skin does look good. The skin was all creased and twisted but as soon as I fitted it and left it in...

    Helmet recommendations - eyeglasses

Pre Laser surgery, I wore multi-focals that had to be on dead straight to see out of. With a complete open-face, the wind would pull/skew the glasses and twice my clip-on sunnies were ripped off. As a result I have an open-face Nolan N41 (for warmer days) with visor and a Nolan N-102 (aka...

    Wiring to Front Fuse Box

What I really meant to ask, is how to lever the front fuse box out, specially without breaking anything. Just got sidetracked. As I was looking at the fusebox, a box arrived with my Hindle in it. It's now installed and ready to go. Found just the tool to fit the spring. About 25 years ago I...

    Wiring to Front Fuse Box

A continuity tester shows that there is power to both fuse sockets when the ignition key is on (individually at least). I was going to run a line with a 10A in-line fuse straight off the battery but I'd really like one switched and one unswitched outlet.

    Wiring to Front Fuse Box

Any tricks to getting the fuse box out that’s under the trunk lid so I can wire both the switched and un-switched accessory fuses? Thanks.

    Goin camping

Only problem with the Spyder and camping is that my swag fills my mirrors (unlike on my Roadstar). Fortunately a small tent I have fits in the trunk. FYI. The trunk takes at least 30 cans of beer and a bag of ice (and has a drain hole).

Bad gas- I recommend carrying some of this

Metho is also quite good. Riders of older Harleys and Kwakas who suffered from carb icing would often carry a bottle of metho. I recently added some to my Roadstar tank after I manged to get some water in my tank. Not sure if it was condensation in my tank or bad fuel but it certainly worked...

    GPS

Couple of Questions: #1. In another post, someone noted that reading the GPS thru polarized glasses is not easy. Is that common? On all my bikes, I can see all the rainbow stress marks on my windscreen when I've got my sunnies on. Same with the reversing LCD screen in my car. However, not...
