• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Americade 2012

Have been to Americade 5 times in years past, usually in connection with a cross-country motorhome trip from Oregon. Would like to go again but without the attendant motorhome trip. Cross-country flight would work out fine. So, anyone know dealers in the New England area who rent Spyders? Thanks.

    COMFORT SEAT

Seats!! Going right to the BOTTOM of the problem. In previously owned Harleys, I had Corbin seats. OK, but I didn't know better. With my BMW R1200RT, I went to Rick Mayer in northern California and had one custom made. Now that was a comfortable seat. When I got the Spyder last summer, I figured...

Goodbye Old Friend and Hello New One.

Last July, I did pretty much the same transfer - just slightly different models. Went from a 2005 BMW R1200RT to a 2009 RS SM5 Spyder. The BMW was a great ride - very intense at speed. On the other hand, the RS is less intense and I think I have more smiles and chuckles with it as the miles roll...

    The Utopia backrest

On their website, Utopia refers to the Custom Backrest Bar Installation. What's with this? I don't see anyone talking about a Bar installation under the seat (I think) that requires taking off the seat material. Will somone please explain if you know. Thanks.

New way to haul your spyder

I considered something like this before I went with the TandemTow trailer. It's backwards because of the wheel wells of the truck.

Stree Magic Up and Out mirror extensions install - comments

Well, this old reitred accountant just installed the mirror extensions. Comments are for those thinking about it. I read somewhere that someone installed them in an hour. Well, I installed the first one in just under an hour and the second one in 15 minutes. In the box is a plastic...

Install BOTH Street Magic center taillight and wake-up module - question?

Sarge, yours was the answer I was hoping for - just install the light and then install the wake-up. So one side's wiring is going to have the center taillight plug inserted as well as one side of the wake-up module inserted. Did it make a difference which inserted plug was closer to the Spyder's...

Install BOTH Street Magic center taillight and wake-up module - question?

From what I can tell, there is no way to "set" anything on the Street Magic wake-up module.

Install BOTH Street Magic center taillight and wake-up module - question?

For those who have installed both on their Spyder RS - a few weeks ago I decided to get both and sent an email to ask how they mounted together. I put the response aside until I got the parts this past week. Wrote another email explaining that the first email response did not agree with the...

    Spyder on a trailer

My experience: for my winter in Texas, I pulled my TandemTow trailer with the Spyder aboard from Anacortes, WA to Kerrville, TX. As a particularly anal type of guy, I tied the Spyder down with 7 tiedowns. Yes, probably overkill, but as I said, anal. The platform on the trailer is 6 x 8 ft. Tie...

    cleaning the spyder

Is the BRP XPS stuff the same or similar to the Honda Spray/Polish? I've been using that stuff for years.

Best way to clean a RT??

OK, I see all the ideas for cleaning the Spyder. I just want to know how you get at the rear wheel. On my RS, I would take off the bags and then - gag, how do I get in there? Hire a small kid with tiny hands?? ;)

What happens when your Spyder stops?

Wow Bootie, there's a Homepage??? :opps: I have to admit, I've always gone straight to the Forum and haven't paid too much attention to the Homepage. OK, so there's a realtively small list of folks (geographically) who have volunteered to help you out. The question still remains, where do you...

What happens when your Spyder stops?

That is, stops cold and wont move. Sure you have towing coverage but where do you go if there's no dealer anywhere nearby? I hate to be pessimistic but I had the same thinking when I had the BMW - too few dealers around. (Never had to have it towed.) BMWOA also had the Anonymous book which...

I know this is an old post - but it answered the very question I had when I opened the TM box a little while ago - what's this aluminum ring for?? Wow, talk about being right on point. Thanks to all who posted 2 years ago. Ain't this forum great!! :D

    BRP Spyder RS GPS mount

I wont post pictures as I have the same setup as Pincushion's pictures above. Mine's on the right side as i have the manual shift. Standard length arm on the ball laying over to the left from the ball and then the bracket for my Garmin 276c. Almost went with the shorter arm but this one works...
