• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Wiring Brake/Running Light!

One final note. If you don't cut out a portion of the bottom of the new tail light assembly and replace it with a clear lens, you will not have any illumination for your license plate. Most LEOs probaly would not notice, but I carefully cut out part of the red bottom lens and replaced it with...

    Wiring Brake/Running Light!

My Walmart lamp has two wires also a red and a black. I connected the orange from the Spyder to the red on the lamp which powers the 5 watt license filament. I took the white lead from the brake circuit wire and connected it to the black on the lamp which then powers the 21 watt brake filament...

    Saddlebags

I started with the NR silver streak bags and after five months, switched to the GIVI R-35. All R-35 kits whether from BRP, I7 or GIVI require turn signal relocation. I went the least expensive route with Givi kit from Sport Tour which requires that the turn signals be relocated to the rear...

    Wiring Brake/Running Light!

I converted the license plate light to a working brake/running light using a $5.95 tail light assembly from Walmart. As Scotty noted, you need to tap into the white brake light wire and run it down inside the rear fender. See my 9/19/09 post for my write up and photos of the finished result. I'm...

    Accessory Pouch/Bag

Following Deb's lead (dltang), I and others simply bought the key chain version of our garage door opener and used super velcro pads to secure it on the underside of the handlebar plate. It is out of sight, but still convenient to use.

What do/did you do for a living?

This has been an interesting thread. Spyder owners are from all walks of life (except no butchers, bakers or candle stick makers). Based on approximately 80 replies so far, 35% are retired and 65% working. 80 is not enough replies to trend across all owners with repect to high retiree...

    Online DPS Petition...Interest?

Signing a petition might make some feel better, but it would have little if any impact. BRP knows through its dealers and from monitoring this an other sites of the issue. Any petition would have to state facts regarding the issue and they are varied in how they manifest themselves and how...

    In The Press

While it may not lean like a motorcycle, in Michigan it is registered as a motorcycle, it is insured as a motorcycle, you need a motorcycle endorsement and you need to wear a helmet. With more safety and more stability maybe it's a More-to-cycle. :D

A question for all Spyder owners.

Absolutely would do it again. Article in today's paper reports that 43% of motorcycle owners are baby boomers (born 1946 - 1964) and will want to keep riding. Trikes are increasingly becoming the ride of choice. That was a big part of our decision; greater stability/safety. I think BRP was...

Anyone have the BRP seat cover?

Installing the skin is easy, if you get it nice and warm. Removing the seat to install it is a pain, especially if you have the sport rack and Givi cases installed. Once it's on and in the sun for an hour, all creases disappear. It is for looks only and, it does nothing for comfort. You may...

    Happy New Year

HAPPY 2010. My first post since 11/16/09. Self imposed exile as part of addiction therapy. I have visited from time to time, but have not participated as I watched to see if the site was falling into oblivion. It looks like civility has returned. I intend to stay connected in 2010, but will need...

"Roll Me Away" by Bob Seger, but I'm from Michigan and have a Bob Seger bias. Had to change the lyrics to "my big three wheeler". :doorag:

    Dealer Lines

Town & Country Sports Center at US-12 and US-127. Got the HD franchise in 1975 before HD required exclusive dealers. Their new Tecumseh HD dealership required exclusive HD franchise and I think that's what got them the exemption on the renewal of their US-12 dealership. It is rare to see HD...

    Dealer Lines

Just learned that we now have a local Spyder dealer 12 miles away. Harley dealer who also carries Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki added Spyder. Sells only bikes and ATVs, no PWCs, snowmobiles or boats. Big HD store and also owns another HD only store about 20 miles to the east. Seems like...

    APB for Scotty!

But after that, he posted a farewell note (Yellow Spyder Fire thread) basically saying he could no longer participate with those bent on the demise of the Spyder. I have not seen him logged on since then. I hope he takes some time off and is drawn back by the good that this forum does.

    Riding with a passenger?

New passengers who aren't familiar with the helmet weight and the effect of acceleration and braking on a cycle will need some help or head banging will occur. I do enjoy passengers, but always worry about them. My wife knows the risks, but many first timers may not know what's waiting out...
