• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Police Spyder

I would love to see an army of EMTs on Spyders in the city with some life saving stuff jammed in the Givis, weaving through tight spots in traffic. .

    "NEW" Givi E55 Maxia Trunk

In the first 2k miles I lost the cover to the license plate light. When I found out you needed to replace the whole housing to get the plastic cover, I used a spare piece of plastic from the tool room with some crazy glue to hold it in place. a few weeks later while parked on the street in the...

    "NEW" Givi E55 Maxia Trunk

Well, since you said "please" I just ran out with the camera. This is the little sister - the Givi E52. Its mounted via the Givi E250 and a KewlMetal rack. The photos are little grainy cause the sun set and I jacked up the ISO on my camera... too lazy to pull out the flash, but I think you get...

2nd Annual Times Square Spyder run - 2009

ok, now that the date is changed, I can upgrade my status to "tentative"

    Kewl Metal rack

well... they both do. If I put pressure on the rack itself it will wiggle. The E-52 is held on by the E250 mount and where the two of them meet, there has been a growing "wiggle" as well. Get on the road and hit some bumps and that wiggle well sometimes look like a Striped Bass out of water...

    Kewl Metal rack

yes, it does.... the procedure to remove those components, just to get the lights off is so crazy, that ended up snapping one of the tabs that holds the right taillight in place. Basically, when I see a taillight bulb pop, I know what I;m doing Saturday morning..... (each taillight housing is...

Who has the best seat in the House?

The Corbin really does take some time to break in... I have about 30k+ on mine and seriously felt like a mistake for the first 10 - 15. That was also during mid winter, so its very possible that it breaks in better in the warm months. Now its like a nice beat up leather jacket, it just feels...

    SpyderRyder Elite Status?

got a cool little gift from somewhere... Showed up in big white box but the label was peeled and can't see where it came from. So, whoever sent it; "Thank You" I would imagine there are more in the pipeline and others can expect to receive them as well. (For size reference, its leaning on a...

I'll be heading out with a friend on his bike for breakfast at Marcus Dairy around 8 am. We are then meeting up with some others out at Rockwell Cycles which is just a few miles north of the Bear Mountain bridge rotary on 9W. We are leaving Rockwell at 10 am and heading north. I'm the only...

    Sputtering and backfires

seems like anytime the temp is above 70 and the engine gets warm I start to stutter. Get up to speed and all is well, but then when I drop back down in traffic it acts up again.... If I let it sputter long enough it just shuts down. Then on restart it runs well for about 10 minutes before it...

Head lights fit in fog light space

I thought hard and long on this one.... I really wanted to have a set of Bi-Projectors in the place of the driving lights. The headlight projector assembly is much bigger and not designed in a manner that would not make it easy to extract. Even if you did, the housing just wont fit without some...

same here, all the way in, first stop pull back, go slow, watch for moistness on the ring, give it a little more and done.

    Simple Tips

+1 on the Gerbings products. I use the gloves, jacket liner, pant liner and socks when needed. I've riden in -6F at highway cruising speeds for over an hour. There is just no way to do that with out heated gear. A good windbreaker jacket and outer pants also go a long way.

    Valve shim at 42K

"Keep them in the garage or ride slow for a few miles" wait a minute... am I wrong, or are all the high mileage Spyder owners East of the Mississippi? btw; 51.4k as of today.

    Ding, Ding!

I really shy away from these matters as it can sometime lead folks down the wrong road... Your mileage will vary as will your experiences and what I do may not be considered "best practice". with that said; I change my own oil every 4-5k miles, or once a month. There has been two official valve...
