• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    35mph- what gear?

At 35 mph (or at any speed) the gear I use is helmet, boots, gloves, jacket and pants. Just trying to lighten things up a bit. :D

    anyone sell their Spyder?

Anyone figure what the chop shop value of a Spyder would be? Rather than sell it whole, offer it on SpyderLovers for spare parts. It could be the US parts warehouse everyone has been asking for. At least there would be one of every part available which is more than dealers can say. :D

    What's Up?

Is it the weather, health care, politics, constipation....?. Seems to be lots of harsh exchanges lately and the tone is becoming a bit testy. Not the usual disagreements (oil, octane, options), but tongues (text) seem to be bit sharp. Maybe a little bit of Mark Twain's observation...

    a general tire issue

Everything seems to have expiration dates. Many experts say to replace your helmet every five years since the protective qualities degrade over time. :dontknow:

    Whoo Hoo! Sun's out!!

But forecast for mid 60's on Wednesday. Good news for those of us with two good knees. Keep up the rehab and hope for a nice dry thaw after you get the RT.

    Spyder Loyalty

No excuses for poor design, component failures or software glitches that cause the Spyder to be unsafe. Basic fact is that riding a motorcycle puts you at a 26 times greater risk of death than riding in a car. While I do not want DPS failure to be the cause, I don't want a sleeping driver, cell...

buell - engine for the new RT ??

Let's face it, power sells, if it's needed and usable is irrelevant. I can't imagine any real world situation where the Rotax 990 would not allow me to respond to a situation that more HP would help. I have scared myself a couple of times with how fast this thing comes on. That said, why do...

    newbie question

Any vehicle that weighs 1,000 lbs (with rider) is going to be affected by wind. Heck, up here in Michigan a Yugo got blown off the Mackinaw Bridge. The big difference with the Spyder is that you don't have to worry about balance when hit with crosswinds. Wide stance and lots of contact patch...

    BUELL closing ???

I know a guy who has had two Ducatis and according to him, if we think Spyder techs are bad, try finding a good Ducati Desmo wrench.

Charlie needs goggles or a taller windshield! :D

    BUELL closing ???

Doesn't register yet, but BRP is counting on the aging market and design of the Spyder to create a new market segment. Below are the MC market shares of the approximately 1 million units per year. Interesting also are the ATV statistics where BRP is last, but they are a relative newcomer to that...

2 Spyders down for about a month.

You two have been wonderful test pilots for the Spyder and to see them in this condition must be really hard. You have had good words for Nord Ride and I hope that they come through for you again. Good Luck.

    BUELL closing ???

While the Buell design, engineering and performance were noteworthy, it is very hard to stay in business when your market share does not rise to noteworthy levels. With less than 1% of the bike market, they are like Saturn is (was) to the auto market.

    rear light upgrade

No one makes a replacement light for the purpose you are seeking, but several have replaced the stock reflector with various working lights. I followed the lead of others and for $5.75 at Walmart and a couple hours, I have a working tail/brake light where the reflector was. See my post of...

Came across Binky on the Natchez Trace Parkway on a Honda VLX600 with custom pooch tank bag and goggles.

    silver handlebar peice

1/4" drive slim profile socket from Sears will make this easier, but still no picnic. 1" riser does provide more working room, but everything is done mostly by feel. Big hands, big problem.

    Taking turns lefts and rights.

On left turns, your right (throttle) arm is extended and may create some throttle tension that does not occur on right turns where your right (throttle) arm is shortened and may relax a bit on the throttle. I have noticed this "Spyder quirk" which never happens on two wheels since you never...

    PE RTS Deposit

BRP did an amazing design/marketing job with the RT, but a few things have not gone their way (yet). The economy still is not recovered sufficiently that folks have extra money for toys or easy access to credit. While some may have found the GS price of $16,000 a sticking point, $24k - $30k...

    What a Great Day!

I'm just plain envious since I used the nice weather yesterday to ride my Toro and get the grass cut before the week of rain sets in. Smart choice would have been let the grass go and go on the Spyder. Just hoping for some Indian Summer. Good riding days will be few and far between now, so...
