• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lamonster-itis strikes again--the Mods keep coming

The speakers sound really good when riding around town, but at high speeds they get kind of drowned out. I think that problem will be solved when I get a windshield that actually works and blocks the wind. Plus, I don't wear a full face helmet, so I didn't even consider helmet speakers. Im...

Lamonster-itis strikes again--the Mods keep coming

Yea, they are marine speakers. But I live in L.A., so it hardly ever rains anyway, plus I don't really do any Bad weather riding. I was also really happy with how my design turned out...it really does look like it's factory.

Lamonster-itis strikes again--the Mods keep coming

Well, an update about #798. Last you saw it looked like this... After 6 weeks of waiting for BRP to send me the new steering shaft, it is now back together and looks like this... But, while I was waiting for the part to arrive, I got a case of Lamontster-itis and I just had to make some sort...

    Frieght and Prep in CA?

I was forced to pay $1900 from Honda of Hollywood. A year prior, when I pre-ordered my Spyder, part of their sales pitch was that I would get a considerable break on all assembly and destination fees. But when the time came to sign my "deal", their first offer was for over $2500..and when I...

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

its my pleasure to help out when I can. I think that why this site is so cool....One person can help someone NOT to make the same mistake on something. At the same time, Lamont can show us all the new toys and gadgets that we will all HAVE to get.

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

thanks 44, Im thinking of having the grey pieces of my spyder painted that same color blue while its taken apart.

    Polished her up

actually, I didn't trust using anything, especially Goo-gone. I was afraid of any substance fading or taking off the paint. What I actually did was use the old fashioned method. I waited until it was warm outside and put the bike in the sun...then I peeled them off with my finger nails. The...

    Polished her up

the first thing I did when I got my Spyder home, was to take ALL of that awful advertising off my bike. I know its a Spyder....so do you....I don't need to have CAN-AM in bigger letters on my bike than the word "Spyder.

It also has the torque settings listed in the installation instructions that come with the riser

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

Director...you are absolutely correct. The riser fits over the splines..then a bolt goes down onto the threads in the center of the riser...to actually bolt it to the steering shaft. I tightened that bolt to the point where it snapped off the threads that are connected to the steering shaft.

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

you are right Lamont, the splines do most of the work. But when i put it back together and rode it for a couple days after I broke the bolt off....the handlebars felt kind of loose and wiggled just a bit. That made me a little too uncomfortable, so I had to fix it. Here is my other bike...

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

Thanks for the advise Carol, but its a little too late for that and I really need the peace of mind knowing that its put back together the way is should be done. Plus, the new steering shaft only cost about $130, so it wasn't so expensive.

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

I was using the wrench to tighten the bolt onto the threaded shaft and the shaft broke off. Come to find out that those threads were permanently connected to the end of the steering shaft...so the whole thing had to come out.

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

Oh trust me, the thought HAS crossed my mind. Lamonster-itis might strike again...I might have all the grey pieces painted, Im already waiting for the new exhaust from Lamont, I might modify the pod and have some speakers molded into the sides. Its dangerous having all of those pieces already...

Just a warning for my fellow Spyder owners

This is what your bike will look like if you tighten the bolt that holds the new, taller riser on....and do not use a torque wrench. I didn't have a torque wrench, so I used a regular one. It felt tight, but could have easily been tighter, so I kept on cranking it until it was tight enough...

    Risers for handlebars

the mounting is good enough that the bars wouldn't just suddenly separate from the bike if the bolt broke going around a corner. I rode mine for two days with the bolt completely broken off (no freeways or high speeds), but it was in my head that the only thing holding my handlebars to the bike...

    Risers for handlebars

Just my two cents, for what its worth... The riser itself was a fantastic addition...the best thing for the best price as far as an accessory. But here is my warning...and I say this from experience. If you try to install it yourself (which I did), make sure to use a torque wrench to tighten...

    A new Spyder owners disease...its called Lamonster-itis

Lamonster...I'd like to buy one of the cans right now. Just let me know how much. I can pay through Paypal if you have that. I could also give you my Fed-Ex number to handle all of the shipping. Email me if you would. [email protected] Thanks, Rick
