• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

4-Wheeler Rides similar to the Spyder???

I agree, especially on turns, which are easier, smoother, and more solid feeling on my quad. Granted, circumstances are obviously different - I ride the Spyder at faster speeds and mostly on pavement versus dirt roads and off-road on my quad, but without the expansive front end of the Spyder...

    Shifting into first gear

In my RT-S owner's manual, they call it "positive engagement". Perfectly normal. In fact, if my machine quit doing it, I'd be worried. :)

    Throttle swap

You're very welcome! I highly admire your Keep On Rydin' attitude and wish you the best in finding a throttle solution. One of my horseback riding buddies continued riding with ALS for years, and I'm certain it helped him stave off its progression. A good attitude atop a good horse (or...

    Spyder shirts

http://www.spydersisters.com Lots of tees (long and short sleeve), hoodies, sweats, tote bags, etc. All can be customized. I have tees and totes from her, all customized, and they're well done, good quality.

    Spyder Accidents

I guess I'm aware of it because our little rural bridges crumble and collapse pretty regularly around here (and may not be replaced for years, if ever). And some of the TV specials on the subject nationwide are nightmarish!

    CAR HORN ON SPYDER

These mega horn threads always tickle me. On the rare occasion that I use my horn, it always startles me! Maybe my beloved Spyke got a mutation when she went thru the assembly line on Horn Day, 'cause I can't imagine needing anything louder. Besides, when some SOB runs me off the road, I...

    Spyder Accidents

And a couple other caveats no matter how many wheels are under you: 1) Never cross a RR track without looking both ways. Don't trust the microwave switches to work the gates, not only because snow/ice can screw them up, but because they don't always detect small vehicles on the track. I've...

    Throttle swap

Thumb throttles like those on ATVs are extremely fatiguing and not meant for "normal" riding of appreciable distance. They're only used because regular grip throttles when riding crazy terrain would constantly throw off your control. Thumb throttles provide precise control independently of...

    Prayer for Joe

My very best wishes to Joe. A dear friend of mine could just about top-dress her (dirt) driveway with the kidney stones she's passed both naturally and surgically in the past few years. Very painful. My sympathies!

Selling my 2011 RTS any advice Craigs List

I was wrong in using the term "cashiers" check when I should've used "certified" check, which is an important distinction. The check I took to my bank was probably certified, which simply means that at the moment the check was written, the bank verified the account holder's identification and...

Selling my 2011 RTS any advice Craigs List

My banker's explanation that day was along the lines of, if there's more than one name on an account, usually husband/wife, it's rare but possible that both parties have made withdrawals within a short time of each other, probably without the other one knowing it yet. IOW, there can be...

Selling my 2011 RTS any advice Craigs List

All great advice. In addition, think about how you're going to let potential buyers test ride your machine. Many of them may have never seen a Spyder in the flesh before drooling over yours, and we all know the horror stories of first-ride wrecks even by seasoned 2-wheel jockeys. Also...

    For all you bird feeders

Nope, unfortunately, not a joke. Here's an article from 1983: http://www.nytimes.com/1983/10/09/us/for-hummingbirds-a-fatal-electric-lure.html Your question about how it can happen is a good one, but I can come up with a couple possibilities from our own pasture fences. One is that tiny...

It's working! Lamont's "server guy" must've figured out the glitch! No more clicking to a blank page. And I also see that the joke thread in the Off Topic forum has been restored!

    For all you bird feeders

Absolutely good advice. I've never used it. Just regular sugar. Also, for those of us with hot wire fencing, don't use red insulators. They're hard to find nowadays because the problem was discovered and addressed a few years ago, but hummers were being electrocuted by probing them for nectar.
