• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder in the snow!

What about those of us in the south that get snow? The ski hill is only about 7 miles from my house and I'm most definitely NOT in the north. Being at 7200 feet is REALLY nice in the south -- we seldom hit 95 degrees during the summer and have a mild winter compared to most places. Dennis

Does anyone wear leather when they ride??

If this were real, why weren't the activists arrested for assault? Throwing an object at someone I believe qualifies. Not sure if you could quite push it to the level of assault with a deadly weapon (unless someone was REALLY allergic to latex or food color). My response to animal rights...

    new model 2013

You don't necessarily need to go bigger -- just different configuration of engine. Put in a high-output 4-cylinder and maybe make the reverse electric so you're not loosing a gear. Just take a look at the specs for the T-Rex 1400RR and scale it down to something like using a CBR 1000 engine...

Brake light OK - No running tail light?

I hate to be the one to tell you this -- but you can't. The sport rack has to come off to get to some screws on top of the housing/below the sport rack unless you've modified the housing (see another thread on here somewhere). That's the main reason I went with the LEDs instead of just another...

Brake light OK - No running tail light?

I had the same experience and noticed it when testing AFTER just installing the sport rack/backrest.. :gaah: Suggestion if you can't switch to the ESI LED's, look on here for those that have moved to LED bulbs (they have to be the right ones) and use those instead of stock. Will pull a...

    I DID IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

If you're looking to just give it away, I have a good home for it ;) Congrats on another win.

    FUNNY STORY!

Most of the people I run into think it's a scooter until I point out the 990 on the side and explain it's almost 1000cc

    Difficulties installing trunk liner?

Has anyone tried a spray-on adhesive of sorts? I'm considering doing that to limit the movement and make it look a little better.

    RE-SALE VALUE

Damn. Which local paper and could you take a look at it to see what kind of condition it's in? For that much, I'd buy it and haul it back to NM for resale. Dennis

Easy Risers™ low cost riser kit

Can you give measurements or more info on how much rise there is on these assuming straight up? Also, what prevents these (or any others of the same general design) from sliding on the handle bars? Is there a hole drilled which holds in place, rubber "bushings" or just tighten the hell out...

    Lost rear brake light cover

I'll have spares in a day or so... I didn't want to send in my tail lights (and lose use of my Spyder while gone) to convert to LED so I'll have spares as soon as I can get the ESI parts in (delivery should be tomorrow afternoon and installation probably this weekend). If you're interested in...

    Do you know Louis Powersports?

Just to confirm for everyone, the parts did arrive and all was in good shape. I've changed my feedback on eBay to reflect it. Dennis

    Myrtle Beach Helmet Law

No helmet laws in NM either but God help you if you get pulled over not wearing a seat belt in a car. You're within your rights to kill yourself on a motorcycle but not in a car I guess. To each his/her own. I ALWAYS wear a helmet. I've been in 2 significant crashes in my 25 years on a bike...

    Do you know Louis Powersports?

It's been a while since anyone posted to this so thought I'd update... I purchased the backrest and sport rack combo from them for $504 via ebay. Here's my experience so far and what I'll probably post when I do receive it -- which at this point is a neutral rating at best... - eBay Ad says...

    DOT and Modular Helmets

Having landed head first at around 65 MPH WITHOUT a helmet (see full story below if interested), I can say it's no fun and now wear a helmet religiously. Fit is a big deal not only for safety but comfort. Too loose and it bangs around and is really annoying. Too tight and it can give you...

    Motorcycle Safety Class

Then they better get ready to give out LOTS of motorcycle endorsements. Most cars (at least with rear wheel drive) have a single wheel driven. Those that have 2-wheel-drive us something like positrak in the name.

Maybe 2 wheels again for me....

That depends on the weather. I'm MUCH more comfortable having 3 wheels on the road when I get stuck in the rain -- and NM has a monsoon season where it can flood in a matter of minutes. As much fun as 2 wheels is when it's dry, I like the security of 3 in bad weather and am willing to take...

    Motorcycle Safety Class

One of the things I like about the Spyder vs every other vehicle I've ever owned. It comes with a DVD that covers quite a bit of this -- general handling, swerves, etc. I don't think I've seen it included with any other bike or car. Dennis

    billet riser (help!)

It sounds like you may be thinking the wrong bolts. On mine, there were 2 out close to the end of the plastic (10 mm), 2 closest to the seat (10 mm. I had to cut a socket in half to get these off) and 2 up higher (8 mm). NOTHING in the docs said these were 8 mm so it took me a while to...
