• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Muffler painting. Practical or problematic ?

I painted the stock muffler with flat black BBQ paint from Home Depot (600 degrees) with no problems. Then I found a semi-gloss rated for 1200 degrees at RS Hughes. It works fine and looks much better than flat.

    tail light out....

After going thru many standard 1157 bulbs ( I learned the filament can't take the pounding)I now buy 1157 LED bulbs off Ebay for about $5 a pair and free shipping. I broke my tail light some time ago and replaced with a generic tail light from Autozone. All has been well for a long time.

    Best Battery?

My wife has been running an 100w amp/radio/SD card slot/whatever else with speakers on her 08 RS with the original battery for over a year and has had no problems with it. Oh, except for the time she FORGOT TO TURN IT OFF!

    Aimsoil

You don't need much in the way of tools. I don't know the sizes from memory, but metric sockets, allen wrench (if you still have the original drain plugs) and a torx screwdriver for the body panels should get it done, along with the always needed hammer, crescent wrench, channel locks, beer...

    G S SEAT REMOVAL

This link might help. I did it, but it was quite some time ago. I don't recall it being too difficult. I do remember one should disconnect the seat piston first. I know, that should have been obvious to me, but...

Gear poisition indicator looses it's mind

My wife rode for about 35 miles today and we stopped for gas. When she tried to start the bike it wouldn't start. I got it started, but then the "fun started". On the dash readout, reverse was now shown as 1st gear. Shift to 1st, it says 2nd. Shift to 2nd, it still says 2nd. 3rd, 4th and...

Is this too much for a 2008 Spyder?

I paid $12 for mine in 09 with 5k miles, stock. Assuming this one is stock, get some aftermarket items thrown in the deal, comfort seat, back rest, windshield, etc. Spyders are cheap compared to the desired mods.

    Wicked Little Buds

They hold up real well for me. I am on my 2nd pair, but I am pretty hard on them. I broke a wire somewhere on the 1st pair. For me they still have the best sound. I have tried probably 10 different kinds over the last few years, including skull candy, and these work the best for me. I...

    Help with adjusting suspension

Assuming you are talking about the rear suspension, get the weight off the back end and use a cheater bar on your ratchet. I use a 3/8" rachet, long extension and a 2' long piece of 3/4" conduit. I agree you should try one notch at a time.

    Original Batterys on 08's ?

My wife's 08 is still going strong. She runs an amplifier and occasionally some heat gear. I don't think it's gone more than a week without being ridden.
