• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

The Smackdab Run is set for June 18th. It now has a dedicated website, www.smackdab281.org, and a Facebook group. Please share this with any Midwestern riders/ryders who might be interested. It's a good time.

Has your Spyder hurt your two-wheel riding skills?

I took my little Honda 125 out for a ride yesterday, and I noticed that I was habitually stopping using the rear brake only. I have been riding motorcycles for 35 years and would have NEVER done that prior to buying my Spyder. Fortunately, my RS-S has a manual trans, so at least I've stayed...

    Touring w/o a Trailer

My wife puts a Nelson Rigg Riggpak 350 Dayrunner behind her on her RT. She has an Ultimate Seats "tall boy" with backrest, and it utilizes the space between the rider backrest on the seat and the passenger backrest perfectly. She attaches it with a short bungie on each side that she passes...

Does your local group function at all ?

Kansas City Spyder Ryders is fantastic! We have group long-distance tours few times a year, day rides at least once a month, and dinner get-togethers almost every week. We have been Top Team in Bikers For Babies fundraising several years in a row. Mike Kilderry (our President For...

    F3 compared to Ltd

As an RS-S rider, I would encourage you to consider that as well...the ergonomics are closest to a sport bike, if that is what you're used to.

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

We got home yesterday afternoon. We came home through this from St. Joseph all the way home. It was like riding in a washing machine for 90 minutes. Fortunately, it was the only bad weather we had, and our own home was waiting at the end of it.

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

In summary, 15 people participated (14 bikes plus one co-rider). Four Spyders made the trip (2012, '13 & '14 RTs, one 2013 RS-S). Everybody arrived well before Sundown, but one rider headed further down the road before the 10PM dusk patch-and-picture ceremony, and 2 speedy riders were already...

Accessory power tap: Battery terminals or wiring harness?

I want to add a few electrical farkles to my 2013 RS-S, nothing too high amperage, just a USB charger and some LED marker lights. Most of the advice I've read searching this forum seems to recommend simply running aux leads from the battery terminals. That has the advantages of easy installation...

    Finally, I rode the F-3...

My wife and I test-rode a couple of F3s Friday morning at SpyderFest and yes, yes, yes — we too were very impressed. The funny thing is, we drove the 1330 triple RT last year and weren't super impressed, but that motor really shines in the F3 chassis! [It might be because we rode F3 SM6s. Last...

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

PATCHES HAVE ARRIVED! I just received a dozen finishers' patches for Smackdab participants. A big up to Lynn Lees here on Spyderlovers for doing the work. Thanks to having NO art setup fee and NO minimum quantity, they were the lowest price we were able to find for such a small run. And, as...

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

Just bumping this. It's three months from today, and it looks like two Spyders and 7-10 motorcycles so far. Would love to have a couple other three-wheelers join us.

What did you do on or to your Spyder today..........

Not quite "today," but we rode to meet the other KC Spyder Ryders for dinner last night. My wife and I were the only ones who rode our Spyders — it was 27°F! Fortunately, the restaurant was only 13 miles from our house. Thanks to nice ski bibs, we stayed warm and it was actually a fun ride.

    On-board Video

Just got back from a four-day trip exploring Northwest Arkansas. On a couple of random legs, I strapped a digital action cam to my RS-S and followed my wife through the countryside, including some excursions on dirt/gravel roads. Here's 6½ minutes of excerpts. I typically strap the camera to the...
