• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why no fuel management for 2013?

Ditto. And I'm glad I did. Maybe we just got lucky, but I, too, think my '13 RS-S is a clear step up from earlier models. Now, maybe if I had been in the market for an RT-LTD I would feel differently.

Saddle bags..Why are we stuck with one type.

The problem with soft bags is security. Leaving soft luggage strapped to my bike when it's going to be out of my sight for an extended period makes me rather nervous. Locking hard bags secure your stuff as well as the frunk does.

One of the main differences between 2013 and other models

To get back on topic... Riding my 2013 RS-S, I do notice more heat on my leg on the left side of the bike than on my wife's 2012 RT. On the flip side (somewhat literally), her bike bakes yer right foot if you use the highway peg (no radiator block-off plate, obviously). However, I wouldn't...

    NOT INTERESTED

A young coed invited her grandmother out to lunch with a couple of her college girlfriends. During their meal, the young girls began discussing their preferences in underwear. Several of the girls praised the merits of thongs, while others said they favored bikini panties. The young girl turned...

    2013 RSS Questions

I have put about a thousand miles on my 2013 RS-S over the past month or so, and I absolutely love it. I haven't ridden an older RS to compare it to, but having ridden my wife's '12 RT, there is no comparison, even with a BajaRon sway bar. I frankly had no interest in a Spyder of my own until I...

    2013 RS-S to ST-S Handlebar switch

They probably won't work on your bike. The 2013 RS has different handlebars than 2012 and earlier RS/GSs. The 2013 RS bars are lower than the ST bars, but nearly identically styled.

    Two wheels or three wheels?

Just now on my lunch hour I went by the dealer and happened to look over a CTX700N. In my opinion, the ergos are a deal killer. The forward controls, low seat height and pullback bars put the rider in that typical kicked-back seating position every other cruiser has. I think a lot of people buy...

    800 miles on '13 RS-S: Impressions

I stopped by the dealer this morning (to get a tank bag strap I'd left on my trade-in), and one of the guys asked me how I liked my new Spyder. I mentioned that my RS-S seemed to run much rougher than my wife's RT. He nodded and said he'd noticed the same thing. "It's the footpegs." Huh...

    Real Bike?

We've never heard any disparaging comments directly, but I did overhear this conversation at a truck stop: Trucker #1: Those have got to be the stupidest-looking things. Trucker #2: I dunno, I think they're kinda' cool. Trucker #1: Why would any grown man ride a three-wheeled motorcycle...

    Men...this is REALLY off topic.

I must have purchased ten different electric shavers over the years, and I have never found one that is anywhere close to the smoothness of a multi-blade razor. That being said, I have two cheap ($20-25) Braun M60 battery-powered shavers that I use for travel or grab now and then at home in a...

    800 miles on '13 RS-S: Impressions

Keep in mind that I'm just coming off a cruiser with a very short seat with prominent step in it: Also, I've never had a motorcycle with a fairing or windscreen. I did try small windshields on two of my bikes but soon took them off because I didn't like the constant buffeting at helmet level...

    800 miles on '13 RS-S: Impressions

Last Thursday afternoon, I traded in my Suzuki S50 on a brand-new new RS-S SM5. I took it on a 750 mile trip over the weekend, and it left me with a couple of impressions: 1) I love the seat. It was comfortable for a full tank of gas. Roomy enough that I could move forward and back enough to...

    Traffic Light Question For Motorcycles

A lot of the time the culprit is a fresh layer of asphalt, which increases the vehicle's distance above the sensor loop, while simultaneously hiding the cuts in the concrete that show you where to position your bike.

    Traffic Light Question For Motorcycles

Missouri recently passed a similar law for bikes. I think it specifies riders must wait at least two minutes.

Spyderfest may have pushed me over the edge!

It's official! Picked up the new RS-S on my lunch hour. It is all I expected and EXACTLY what I want! Rode home in a downpour and had a blast playing in the rain. Looks great sitting next to my wife's RT in the garage.

Vary the RPMs during break-in..but by how much?

Thanks for the advise. We talked it over and we're going to make all of the trip on two-lane state roads except for one 60-mile stretch of interstate midway.

We took our longest ride so far...

You're right, the fitted luggage is pretty dang slick. When my wife bought her RT Base, it didn't come with the luggage, but after her test ride she got a BRP promo coupon for $500 in free accessories. She used it to get both the frunk rollaway case and the saddlebag liners. She loves them! She...

    Sig Maps

So, those of you with log maps in your signatures, what is your criteria for choosing what states to "color in"? ...Are you listing only those states you've been to with your current machine, or over your whole life? Do you include trips on other types of trikes/motorcycles, or just your...

Vary the RPMs during break-in..but by how much?

I'm picking up my new RS-S tomorrow, just in time to leave with a couple of other riders on a 600-700 mile loop through central KS. Unfortunately, my first day's ride will be mostly Interstate. I know the recommendation is to avoid steady-RPM cruising during break-in, so how much do I need to...
