• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

They are great for keeping air off the hands and legs. Not so much the head.

    Gripes about vendors

:agree: The other web page does say "Air Filter for the Can-Am Spyder" only. Be a nice gesture to reach out and do the right thing with Doug B on the filter. It's just a simply web site mistake that can easily by fixed both for this customer and future ones. :dontknow: Just saying.....

    OIL, OIL, OIL...

If the oil you put in is the kind that the service manual recommends (see my post above) you should be just fine. If in doubt, call your dealer and ask them for their recommendations. The brand of oil is irrelevant...type matching the specks is critical. That is why BRP uses the words "or...

    OIL, OIL, OIL...

Indeed..lengthy one at that --> Oil talk My bottom line for me is this. Your dealer IS your warranty. My conversation with them on the oil I use (Amsoil 10w-40 motorcycle oil meeting all the specs of the shop manual) was simple. They had no problems with it and I could push the 3000 miles...

    OIL, OIL, OIL...

This highlights something that is troublesome. It's bound to happen but it pays to do your own research. All dealers are not created equal. Some are leaders in this fledgling industry...others are completely clueless. I've met both kinds. Research --> Motorcycle oils You can feel confident...

    Spyder Sightings

Spotted a Phantom southbound as I was headed North on I270 by the airport. He was as surprised to see me as him but the highway patrol car between us saw us wave at each other, gave me the thumbs up and just laughed. :roflblack:

    Jackson Service Dept. ?

Another owner from southern OH (Budro) gave them a good review. One thing to keep in mind about the recall and how it works. For the most part the larger dealers have access to more of the DPS's from BRP due to volume. Also, all dealers swap out the DPS's in their current inventory first then...

    Just another ryde

For the first time this year I actually saw other cyclists on the road. Been so long I almost forgot the normal "wave." Decided to check out the areas reservoirs. Yup...still 100% covered in ice. But it did get up to 50+ degrees. Clicked over 16K on the ryde. Not bad for 10 months. :D...

    New Power Distribution System

Would you rather replace a $14-$20 relay or a $1-$2 dollar fuse? Going from 30amps to 35 gives more breathing room for the entire electrical system which can become an issue as more after-market accessories are added. How would that be no good on any level? Ever seen a fried relay? Not...

    New Power Distribution System

Respectfully I disagree. Relay failures are not extremely rare, they just don't get the publicity. As you even stated the harness is well designed so it's rated to handle more than 30 amp from the factory. BRP errs on the side of caution. Not sure how you concluded it would potentially...

    DPS and winter ryding

Outside all the time ...with all the chemicals and salt on the roads that get on the machine it's best to leave it until gets above freezing to wash it all off (which I do religiously). About 17 miles to and from work each day plus the occasional extra weekend ryde. When snow gets too deep to...

    DPS and winter ryding

At 11 degrees, the DPS (new after recall) unit will begin to act up. I had it throw a code yesterday. I let the Spyder warm up a bit while the DPS light was still on. Turned off the machine, waited a few minutes, did the key reset and it was fine. :2thumbs: Today at 4 degrees the DPS unit...

KewlMetal Luggage Rack Installed on a 2011 RS-S

Versatility is why I opted for this over the sport rack. This may be one of the best mods Kewlmetal produces. A flat surface to set things like drinks on, holes in the side that are great for bungie cord hooks, a variety of top plates available that fit into pre-drilled holes. The backrest...

KewlMetal Luggage Rack Installed on a 2011 RS-S

:agree: I had to install mine twice and in doing so hit one of the tail lights with rubber mallet breaking the filaments. This of course prompted me to replace both with much brighter longer lasting 2357LL than the OEM 1157 bulbs. All part of the learning curve of working on your own...
