• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

CB communication what is the SpYder Channel

Most Wingers use channel 1 or 3 as do many of the H-D riders. We use CH3 bike to bike when we ride (me on the Victory and Joyce on the Spyder)

    picked up a new seat

She has the Low Rider seat and Kewlmetal 4" higher bars. (I should know, I installed all of it :) ) @ 5' 10" you want the Midrider, it's made to the stock position.

    Good Florida Dealer

Daytona Fun Machines in Holly Hill has been great servicing my wife's '08. They performed the recall as well as the 6K service and I would trust their Can-Am mechanic with most anything on the bike, he really knows the product. FYI, you will need to contact whatever dealer and scheduled your...

    Another myth debunked

Don't always assume your GPS is 100% accurate, it isn't. I have done tests with the speedo, GPS and radar and have found that both my GPS's (Garmin and TomTom) read low compared to the speedo and radar. In fact, our Spyder and Victory speedo's are within 1% of the radar readings while being...

    J&M JMCB-2003-CASPY Installed

Actually, the goldwing headset will not work correctly. The Goldwing mic is not "active" so although you can hear through the headset when you talk it has a very low volume level. The BMW headsets use an active mic that works properly with the J&M unit.

    Daytona Bike Week 2010

For these events they do not allow you to go up on the high banks, you stay on the apron for most of the "tour". They also run as a escorted ride and will "push" the back of the pack to prevent people for hanging back and trying to "race" back to the pack. It's fun and something you should do...

Roaddog went over to the Dark Side

Just to reset your points of reference, H-D corporation's 2009 revenue = ~$4.2B. Estimated BRP 2007 revenue ~=$2.5B. No idea what the great recession of 2009 did to their revenue but I would say that odds are BRP has still maintained itself as a corporation roughly half the size of H-D...

    DPS Update and reset questions

No need to disconnect the battery. The ECM update program "reboots" the ECM when it's done updating the ECM and turning off the bike removes all power from the ECM. If you still feel there's a need to "reset" the ECM then remove the main 40 amp fuse, that will remove all power from the system...

I think the party is over.

I would suggest eliminating the fan relay as well as any other electrical mod until the problem is sorted out. Put the bike back to stock, 100% and then if there's still a problem then, and only then do you have a legitimate beef. Understand that you modify the electicals on a modern bike you...

welcome:congrats: I like the way you said, "My FIRST Spyder". That's the spirit, hopefully it's not the last Spyder you call your own.

    Yellow Spyder Fire

Irrelevant was probably a poor choice of words. The point I was attempting to make was that had this been an isolated incident, i.e. no other Spyders had spontaneously combusted, then looking for an external cause would be far more relevant. The fact that other spyders have caught fire...

    Yellow Spyder Fire

Irrelevant, riders and drivers log millions of miles annually with cell phones, mp3 players and laptops connected to 12V sources and we don't hear about other bikes and cars going up in flames because of it. Please don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the Spyder and have posted far more...

    Yellow Spyder Fire

No conclusions need to be drawn. As it stands now there is a documented history of fires and defective / dangerous steering problems. Not exactly the kind of press BRP needs when trying to launch a $25K touring machine. If they don't get off their collective ass and figure these things out...

    Battery tender? Looking for recommended

There is only one "Battery Tender", the others mentioned here are battery chargers. Battery Tender is a trademarked name. I have been using real battery tenders since they came out and personally think they are the best on the market. They were the first to patent technology that properly...

    kewlmetal handlebars diameter?

7/8", the same as the factory bars. There is an I.D. difference as the factory bars are a thinner gauge tubing than the Kewlmetal. BTW, Kewlmetal doesn't make the bars, they just found some standard 7/8" bars that meet the specs they wanted.

    Daytona Biketoberfest

Just to be clear, we needed to make our plans so we could ATTEND Biketoberfest and MISS Fantasyfest........ :yikes:

    Great deal on spyder insurance

That's the reason most of these companies are raping you on price. The rating systems most of these use classify the Spyder as a 990cc SPORT bike. The conditions to meet the sport touring class are a windshield and storage, both of which this meets. Some companies will alternatively rate this...

Where did the weight come from?

I think that's the Buell motor or maybe a version they can sell under the Rotax branding. With different cams and cam timing it would be PERFECT in the RT but it's a 72 degree V so an extensive frame redesign would probably be in order.
