• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

need help popping in exhaust and also comming from airbox

Popping in a high-performance exhaust system is perfectly normal, and in some cases desireable: http://www.mikuni.com/tg_backfires_in_exhaust.html ANY backfiring coming from the airbox area is NOT normal. I don't remember anyone else reporting this issue after installing an after-market...

    Big increase in MPG

Because the Spyder has such a large frontal area, with so many parts and bits sticking out in the wind, I'll suggest the single biggest factor affecting fuel mileage (all other things being equal) is speed. The faster you go, the more drag will affect fuel mileage. As far as drag from the...

    Big increase in MPG

My theory is you had two phenomena contributing to increased fuel mileage in this situation: 1) lower speed = less drag effect on mileage, 2) higher elevation = leaner mixture. Regards, Mark

    Oil Change Frequency

Since I intend to follow the manufacturer's recommendations, I have no NEED to...;) You are correct sir, you certainly may post whatever you like! Somehow you inferred I was "telling you what to post." I assure you, nothing could be further from the truth. To clarify, I've heard...

    Oil Change Frequency

What oil temp does your Goldwing maintain compared to your Spyder? What's the highest temp the oil sees inside the engine? Different engines distribute oil to different areas depending on the whether the oil is also serving engine cooling duties. How much more oil does your Goldwing keep in the...

    First Service!

Actually...... The ONLY part of the first service your dealer can do that you can't is hook up to the BUDS and download any stored error codes. Some may have qualms about adjusting the drive belt themselves, but other than that, I can't think of any service task beyond the skills of the...

    Spyder pre-production test range

Has your Spyder ever overheated? That is, the temp light on the instrument cluster illuminated, or the computer entered "limp mode?" I've heard much discussion about "all the problems" Spyders have with "running hot," and many seem concerned with the number of bars they see on the temp gage...

    Parking Break Problem

Crawl underneath your Spyder with a flashlight and operate the parking brake by hand while viewing the mechanism. Lubricate any place you see two pieces of metal rubbing together. Regards, Mark

    Parking Break Problem

WD40 is great for cleaning (good pressure to blast the gunk off) and displacing water, but the solvents that carry the lubricant evaporate rather quickly and take much of the lubricant with them. That being said, if you lubricate frequently, WD40 should work fine. If you'd like to stretch the...

    Oil Change Frequency

Yup, you could very well be right Scotty -- we've all heard 3,000 miles between changes for YEARS. BRP could very well have avoided testing and simply slapped a "safe" number in the manual. Good catch, Mark

    MAN what a day-

Dude, If you could just make it to the top of Donner Pass you could coast the rest of the way into CA! Seriously, take it easy and stay hydrated -- you're supposed to be having fun! Good luck, Mark

    Oil Change Frequency

First, it generally doesn't serve us well to compare our Sypder's engine with automobile engines. The Spyder shares its oil between the engine and transmission. The Spyder's transmission places a great deal more stress on the oil than an automotive engine making comparisons between the two...

    Fog Lights

The fuse is there to protect the wiring, not the component. If the component (or any other part of the power circuit) shorts to ground, you want the fuse to blow BEFORE the wire burns. Current handling (amperage) of the wire is based on its size (gauge), and whether or not it's part of a...

    Here We Go Again

It could also be that BRP (or it's supplier) is not drilling the holes with the appropriate bit. Take a close look at the next shield they give you before you install it. Look carefully at the inside of the holes with a magnifying glass. The hole's inside edges should look as if they've been...

    Here We Go Again

Scotty, Did you try stop drilling the crack? You can drill a small hole (3/32" should be plenty big enough) at the end of the crack which will prevent it from propagating any farther. You must use a special type of drill bit designed specifically for plexiglass. Click here for an example...
