• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bat to the face...splat

I see a new username coming... I'll start! How about BatBrain? BatBasher? KillerBat? TheMadBatter? Are you gonna get a cape and utility belt? I think a blacked-out Spyder would make a fantastic BatCycle! Ughhh, I know, this is really bad stuff... But it could be worse... A guy in a local...

    Garmin GPS

According to Garmin, your Zumo 450 is waterproof to the IPX7 standard. An IPX7 designation means the GPS case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. The device is meant to be used while riding in the rain, so a couple of downpours sitting still shouldn't...

    Spyder Tire Preasures

Right, which is why I asked for DATA. If someone knows for sure BRP's testing (or lack thereof) is flawed as regards their tire pressure recommendations, please share the DATA and the SOURCE. I would argue BRP's recommendations on tire pressure SEEMS appropriate given the relatively light...

"NannyGate" ... who will solve the VSS issues

The question is, if you didn't have the VSS would you instead have spun out and wound up pointed in the wrong direction? Regards, Mark

    Spyder Tire Preasures

On what do you base this claim? I would assume BRP took the time to test the tires chosen at different pressures to determine the best compromise between performance, ride quality and tire mileage. I've read many articles about the fuel saving benefits of higher tire pressure; in theory it...

"NannyGate" ... who will solve the VSS issues

While cruising down the local Interstate on my way to work one fine morning I got stuck behind a yokel going 55 mph in the left lane of a three-lane stretch. Looking thru her rear window, I could see she was juggling a cell phone, hair brush, coffee and Egg McMuffin. I guess if you're going 55...

    Miles per tank

It seems you are getting better mileage than most with yours. I googled "goldwing trike mileage" and the link below popped up. Based on posts to that forum the majority of Goldwing Trike owners are reporting 30 - 35 -- about the same as most Spyder owners...

    Strange Noise

Many new owners report a "whining" or "groaning" noise during deceleration. The consensus among forum members is belt tension/alignment. The factory adjusts the belt tension quite high at the factory to allow for engine movement due to break in of the motor mounts. I would suggest NOT...

    Miles per tank

Yes, but does your Goldie Trike go from zero to sixty in four-and-a-half seconds? The range of fuel economy reported is all over the map -- anywhere from 25 mph to well over 40. My money says it all has to do with speed; you ride it fast and you pay for the fuel. Just spent the weekend...

    Spyder Tire Preasures

There's label on the left side of the Spyder's swing arm with tire information. It reads: UP TO MAX WEIGHT CAPACITY: FRONT: 15 +/- 2 psi REAR: 28 +/- 2 psi Tire pressure should be checked/adjusted before riding while the tires are cold. There has been much discussion about whether or not...

Lamont, I don't see the poll questions... Regards, Mark

    Problem with Spyders

I think a problem for us experienced two-wheelers is leaning. When the Spyder hits a bump, or you ride on a road with a pronounced crown, the machine tilts. This takes a bit of getting used to. I often ride on poorly maintained county roads with many ruts, bumps and steep crowns; Spydie rolls...

Spyder In the shop since the 9th

Lemon laws are different in every state. Google "lemon law [your state]" and you should get a wealth of info... Good luck, Mark

    Lemonade from Lemons

Lamont, So far, I have to agree with you -- I like the look and feel of this style much better then the last. The colors are much easier on the old eyes. Regards, Mark

    Parking Brake Alternative

This guy has found what he believes to be the fix for the parking brake: http://www.can-amtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=6357&view=findpost&p=54614 He's asked anyone who tries his fix to report the results to determine if this indeed fixes the problem. Regards, Mark

"JUST DROVE A CAN AM "TRIKE" AND HATED IT. "

I've ride an '07 Triumph Tiger 1050 triple -- so far nothing to hate. I guess that makes it a love, love... uh, love relationship! Regards, Mark

"JUST DROVE A CAN AM "TRIKE" AND HATED IT. "

Of course, I too feel bad for this man's family and friends -- it's always sad to lose a fellow rider. My original post was more terse than I had planned due to time constraints. Reading it after the fact, I see how many would interpret it as a snide and nasty retort based on another's tragedy...

"JUST DROVE A CAN AM "TRIKE" AND HATED IT. "

Maybe someone should post this over on the Goldwing site... http://www.thedailytimes.com/article/20080624/NEWS/91240681 Note in the article the patrolman believes the one of the rider's rear wheels lifted while he attempted to negotiate a turn. This wouldn't happen on the Spyder. Regards, Mark

    Wrapping the exhaust pipes?

You may have confused getting heat "away from the engine" with getting heat away from the pipes. It's unlikely wrapping the pipes will make the ENGINE run hotter, but there is little doubt the PIPES themselves will run hotter. There is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that wrapping the pipes...

Is it possible to get rid of a clutch?

Do you use the clutch for shifting? This engine/transmission combination lends itself VERY well to clutchless shifting. If you can perfect your technique you might reduce aggravating the injury to the point using the clutch for stopping/starting only is endurable. Regards, Mark
