• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Spyder optional as attention getter...

Yeah, as if I can hear what they're saying! I always shout back the same thing: "I HEARD IT WAS GONNA BE THURSDAY AFTERNOON, BUT I CAN'T MAKE IT!" I get some really strange looks back... Regards, Mark

    Thoughts on Engine Break-in procedure?

Discussed at length here: http://www.can-amtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=5053&view=findpost&p=43244 Regards, Mark

    Spyder optional as attention getter...

Was riding my other bike yesterday (actually the Triumph Tiger is mine, Spydie belongs to my lovely bride). I often ride to work and use my lunch hour to run errands. Sometimes I ride the Tiger, sometimes Spydie. Wifey doesn't ride Spydie enough and it's bad to let engines sit without running...

    600 mile checkup

:agree: Gene, I took ours there as well -- I did all the check up items myself, only needed Ted's to hook up to BUDS and get the codes (none recorded). I called and they said bring it by after work the same day -- didn't charge me to check the codes. Regards, Mark

    need to know

I would suggest you ask your friend to let you ride his and see for yourself -- everyone is different as far as ergonomics. I can tell you this for certainty: most inexperienced Spyder riders grip the handlbars too tightly. It's a new and different riding experience, and that's sure to generate...

    My Spyder is Shipping!

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but it's commonly known that Silver Spyders are the fastest. Silver is faster because it's much more slippery. Yellow and red are attractive -- that means they attract things. The attraction creates a drag effect slowing them down. Silver doesn't have...

Preview of paint job...The Graphics are done.

Re: Preview of paint job...getting the rest of graphics this week That's a truly fabulous color! My lovely bride has plans to paint hers as well, but we're loath to release Spydie to the paint shop during prime riding season -- maybe this winter we'll let her go! Regards, Mark

    BRP shipping updates..

Now we're on the same page! :agree: I could be wrong; BRP may be setting the stage for bad news. But until we hear official word from BRP (usually released on their website) I see no point in spinning everyone up based on what might very well prove to be a clerical error by whoever entered the...

    BRP shipping updates..

Derwin, I apologize if I offended -- that was not my intent. Neither was my intent to shut down this discussion about your concerns. I understand your frustration; I waited for delivery just like everyone else. There were many, many rumors, suggestions and innuendos floating around the forums...

    BRP shipping updates..

REALITY CHECK! BRP conceived, designed, developed, produced, manufactured and brought to market a three-wheeled vehicle offering an open-air riding experience completely different from anything else ever offered in a production vehicle in a time frame that almost boggles the mind. The Spyder...

    BRP shipping updates..

Stopped for gas the other day and spent about 10 minutes talking to a guy about Spydie. I thought it a bit odd he sat in his truck the entire time we were speaking. He asked lots of questions about how easy it is to ride, cost, the usual stuff -- sat in his truck the whole time. Finally, he...

    Engine break-in

Since you make no mention of brakes, I'll assume your interest is in breaking in the engine. Directly from Spyder Operator's Guide: -----QUOTE----- During the first 1 000 km (625mi): – Avoid full throttle acceleration. – Avoid prolonged riding. – If the cooling fan operates continuously during...

    Any Missouri Spyders?

Are you referring to yourself? The reason I ask is because we live in St Jacob, IL -- about 20 miles east of STL. I've ridden the Spyder to work (over near Lambert/St Louis I'ntl Airport) several times. I haven't seen another Spyder near here yet. Regards, Mark

Best Online Oil Filter place, what oil is everyone using?

From the Spyder Operator's Guide pg 77: --- QUOTE --- Use BRP XP-S 5W40 synthetic oil (P/N 293 600 039) or an equivalent motorcycle oil meeting the requirements for API service SL, SJ, SH or SG classification. Always check the API service label on the oil container. NOTICE: To avoid damaging...

Best Online Oil Filter place, what oil is everyone using?

There are a number of threads both here at Spyderlovers and at Spydertalk.com regarding oil. Try a search for "oil" and see what pops up. I use Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5W40. Meets all Can-am specifications and can be had at your local Wally-world for around $15-17 per gallon. Let the oil...

    belt tension

Unfortunately, I don't have or use a tensiometer, so I don't have the info you're looking for. 7/8 inch deflection with ten pounds pressure in the center of the belt is the only specification I know of. Sorry, Mark

    belt tension

I think that's a hit or miss possibility... Didn't happen on ours when I adjusted tension/alignment at the 625 mile service. But you're right, it could happen. My understanding is the computer senses a difference in speed between the spinning rear wheel and stationary front wheel and assumes a...

    belt tension

Do the following in order: 1. Loosen axle nut (large nut on right side of swing arm) 2. Turn adjustment screws on rear of swing arms to adjust belt tension 3. Turn adjustment screw on rear of right swing arm to set belt alignment 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until both are properly set 5. Tighten...

    micron exhaust

The connection between the 90 degree pipe and the Micron exhaust can is a slip joint; it's intended to give a little as the system expands and contracts with heating and cooling. If you insert the can all the way on the 90 before tightening the clamp you shouldn't get any leaks there even if you...
