• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

Actually, since you've had the O2 modifier in I don't think it's been learning anything. Also, the 14.7:1 AFR should only be at places like idle and light / steady throttle / RPM. Under acceleration and high load conditions it's probably in an open loop section that isn't effected by tuning...

    Echaust System

There's a huge difference between the shift points under acceleration and cruising steady state on flat roads. If I recall 5th gear @ 60 mph is over 4K which is far from lugging the motor. If you need to accelerate it's very easy to down shift, make your pass (or whatever) and drop it back...

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

Honestly, I don't have any idea because I don't know how Rotax / BRP implemented their closed loop operation. Typically the learned value table BLM or AFV depending on the terminology, isn't a 1 to 1 match with the map or VE table so someting learned in a closed loop cell could carry over to...

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

Typically they are written to a table separate from the fixed tables and are used to add or subtract from the fixed value based on learned behavior. These are usually called Block Learned Multipliers or BLM for short. I just looked over the electrical diagram for the ECM and there is no...

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

It would be really interesting to talk to one of the BRP engineers to discover what is really happening in the ECM when power is removed. I ask because I've done a lot of ECM programming on Motronic, Bosch and Delphi ECM's and ALL of them remember EVERTHING when power is removed. The only way...

    Echaust System

It's the wife's ride and she's very anal about not beating up the motor until the first service so yes, this was a lot of 55 - 60 mph in 5th gear running. We didn't take exact numbers for mileage and such but after an all day ride to and from the Lessburg Bikefest we put 5 gallons in. I would...

    Echaust System

I'm wondering where you guys got the idea that disconnecting the battery causes the ECM to "reset"? Closed loop ECM's do not reset when the battery is removed. The learned tables are constantly updated and written to non volatile memory. The only way to reset the tables is to have the dealer...

    08 vs 09

Our dealer was offering $1K off on '09's and $2K off on '08's. Add the $700 difference and the '08 was $1700 less. Our deal was $17K OTD for an '08 SE5 or about $15399 +++. Similar deal on an '09 SE5 was $17,099 +++ or about $18,700 OTD. For us it was a no brainer, that $1700 paid for...

have to order a new tire

Without knowing the "special" characteristics of the motorcycle specific tire BRP had made for the Spyder it's hard to suggest a comparable car tire BUT, my experience with the BFG G-Force is that it's a very good tire with a softer than normal sidewall for a low aspect tire so it should work...

    What motivates you?

Best price, reputation and location in that order. I'll spend a couple hundred more on a dealer with a better reputation of who's closer to the house but in the end it's the out the door price that seals the deal.

    Tried to buy....

There is no one size fit's all rule regarding sales and use tax, you need to check each state's rules independently (don't trust the salesman or a private party, call the DMV in that state to confirm their requirements). In Florida motor vehicle dealers are required to collect sales tax on all...

Heli Bar riser/pullback especially for the Spyder

Actually there isn't any more of a tiller effect with the Heli's than with any of the other kits, it's an optical illusion. It's simple geometry with a point of rotation (axis) and 2 end points (the grips). The grips rotate around the axis the same way with the Heli bars as they do with the...

    Kewlmetal, anyone home??????

Sorry guys but I disagree and yes, I have run businesses, dealt with utilities and been through all the hassles of providing quality customer service. Their main thing is not creating great products, that's just one factor in the equation. If this was a garage operation and it was presented as...

    Kewlmetal, anyone home??????

I had the same problem last week. It seems they have IP phone tied to their internet so when they lose email they lose phones too. Not too bright for a business IMHO. I know a lot of people get all up in arms whenever you make a negative comment about a vendor they like but hey, they run a...

Royal Purple Oil- 1000 Mile Review

Yep, as long as it's the proper API rating they can't do a thing. The only way they can require a specific brand of oil is if they provide it, and the oil change for free.

    VIN numbers

That's interesting. Ours was built 10/08 as an '08 SE5 but the sequence / serial number is lower than yours. Obviously they serialize each variant instead of the entire run. 2BXJACA118V002665 with a 10/08 build date. BTW, the month of the build is not encoded in the VIN, that's always...

    Hindle leaks

Update, I removed the pipe and cleaned off all the copper RTV and decided to install it as per the instructions. First I trued up the pipe to make it round again then installed it without the spring and made sure the pipe mate surface was perfectly straight with the pipe hanging loosely on the...

    Hindle leaks

Yes, mostly it's by feel so you need to be REAL careful when you're moving your hands around. Another way, if you smoke, is to put a cigarette / cigar under the joint, the smoke will track with any leak. On the main body leak it's not very hot so it's easy to feel. I haven't run the...

    Hindle leaks

I know there are numerous posts on the Hindle leak at the collector and I have that one, very slight and moves with the clamp's top joint. I'm going to play around a bit more then probably use the copper exhaust RTV I use on almost everything. I have another leak that I haven't seen anyone...
