• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Stock pipe

I don't mind aftermarket....as long as I can get a pipe that's as quiet as the stock. I am not interested in the extra noise at all! Is there a quiet aftermarket pipe? Loud pipes just annoy. Loud suits save lives :D

Who makes it? (I have the decals off, made by the same company that makes Sea-Doo's and Ski-Doo's) How does it handle? (Something like an ATV) How fast will it go? (The speedometer goes to 220 but I've never had it over 140....heh...I've also never had it over 85 but they don't need to...

    oil question

:agree:20W-50 might be OK in the desert SW in the dead of summer, but now that winter is coming on I'd get that out of the Spyder pronto.

    Hindle exhaust and gas smell

I had tongue firmly planted in cheek on that one.........:D Still, flashing firmware is always a procedure that can go horribly wrong. I've turned one computer into a doorstop that way  "Sorry sir, we just bricked your Spyder.....but you can always use it to decorate your garage...

    Hindle exhaust and gas smell

Hmmmm......I had a great running Spyder before the update and inspite of others here on the forum, I did the update and still have a great running Spyder. Should I tempt fate and let them update it again:yikes:

    belt tension

The gauge clicks with 10 Lbs of pressure. The amount of deflection (which is what the gauge is measuring at 10 Lbs of pressure) tells you the tension of the belt. Clear as mud?

    riding without warranty

You've already had the worst thing happen that could happen and it happened under warranty. Expecting lightning to strike twice? Why give them their money back by purchasing the extended? Just go'in with the probablilities here.......

    Got my Ride-On

    No more howl

You'll have to have something to hold the nut on the left while loosening the nut on the right and retightening the one on the right. The nut on the left is part of the axel itself.

Why Spyders Airbox Is The Way It Is.....

With some people just willy-nilly modifying the airbox on the Spyder..... I thought that you might like some reading about why it's designed the way it is with snorkles and all...... http://www.saltmine.org.uk/randy/airboxdesign.html

    rerouting the gas vent

The tip-over valve between the tank and the vent hose is supposed to take care of that. In fact if it's working right it should prevent sloshing fuel from getting in the evap canister.......sure it does......:roflblack:

    Newbie Question re: Purge Valve

A purge valve that doesn't open will allow gas fumes to accumulate in the evap canister which will eventually vent to air resulting in the smell. The latest software update revised the rpms and temps that the purge valve operates which resulted in poor running in some Spyders. If you're not...

    Purge valve

Won't hurt the motor. But the evap canister will fill up and eventually you'll start to smell gas.

    Spyder Won't Start

While you could have a bad relay, open the trunk and you'll see them. Pull and reseat them and try again. I'm guessing that won't work as it sounds like it's the battery. Take off the tupperware on the left side of the Spyder and check the battery terminals for a tight connection, no...

    Help!

Got a multimeter? If not pick up a cheap one (or a nice one if you like) at Radio Shack. Without the fuse in, key on, multimeter set to vDC, one side will register 12v between that and ground. Now change the meter to Ohms and check the other side to ground. (The frame is a good ground...

    Spyder update, STEERING FAILURE

BUDS said that my DPS unit was bad after the update. The tech did a reset and zero'd the torque sensor and everything was fine. You might want to have them check that first. If it's off a little the DPS computer will shut down the power steering as a precaution and pop an error code though...
