• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

@spyderladyf3, Great! Thanks for clearing that up. I didn't think you had a mechanical issue. And I'm glad you don't. A lot of different riding styles out there. No problem with that.

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

You just can't have your cake and eat it too. The RT is an excellent touring machine. It's a Cadillac, not a Corvette. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. For what you are doing, I'd say you have the right machine. You can definitely improve handling substantially on your RT. But it's...

Whose Ryker Air Filters Are You Using? OEM or which A/mkt equivalents?

All of the Ryker models and years take the same filters. But you can't trust the ads. For example, this is one of the Amazon listings for the CM-9910 K&N Engine Air Filter: High Performance, Powersport Air Filter: Fits 2010-2019 CAN-AM (Ryker, 600 ACE, 900 ACE, Rally Edition, Spyder, RS SM5...

    Spyder vs Georgia State Patrol

Very well said.... And true of most of us, one way or the other.

02 Sensor blew out exhaust pipe - what would be the likely root cause?

Sounds like your cat may be getting hotter than it should. What blew out? The welded plug, the sensor at the threads, or just the sensor with welded plug and threads still in tact?

Coming back to a Spyder - anyone found a dealer selling both BMW bikes and Spyders?

Your best financial outcome will always be to sell what you have in a private transaction, then take the money and get your best deal on the other end. This is how you maximize both ends of the transition in your favor. You'll have more left to spend on bling! The alternative is to let the...

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

An accurate take on the question and the overall area of discussion, Gwolf. The one critical thing that the VSS (Nanny) cannot control is the steering angle or the speed at which that angle is achieved. Some riders seem not to realize that jerking the handlebars is not a good idea. Or that the...

Got a Yaw Sensor code and Limp Mode - should I ride it, or what should I do next?

Excellent question. Maybe we'll get an answer... The Spyders are not known for yaw issues, so this is a bit rare. Could always be a sensor gong bad, or??

Whose Ryker Air Filters Are You Using? OEM or which A/mkt equivalents?

We recommend the K&N CM-9910 for the Ryker. Especially on the CVT side. That side sucks a lot of air all the time and can get quite dirty in a hurry. If air flow is restricted, it can severely shorten drive belt life. A fairly expensive replacement. The K&N flows more air dirty than the OEM...

How different are the various V-twin powered 2013-2016 ST & RT models?

The ST is a fine machine. The 998, if ridden as designed, is a great engine and will last a very long time if maintained. I'm assuming it's an SE, which means you want to keep the RPM at or above 3,500. We just did a clutch on an RS yesterday which we suspect went bad because the RPM's were run...

Do People Get Thrown Off of Spyders?

There are a few givens which need to be considered in this conversation. * Anything can be 'Crashed'. For example, they said the Titanic was 'Unsinkable'. * If it can be done, it will be done. Work in any repair shop for a while and you'll see this one is true. * Not everyone is capable of...

Do I really need to Change O-Rings at Every Oil Change? Do you?

As already mentioned, the answer is no. But it it highly recommended that you have a spare set of everything handy in case you find that a component is damaged. However, for what we spend on our Spyderderd, the price of a seal kit can save you some grief.

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

A very common solution which many find very accomodating. Though it can be embarrassing when the 2 wheel rider can't keep up with their wife...

Just added Ron's Ultimate Sway Bar - amazing difference!

Follow Peter's recommendations for a start. If the end links are plastic, you can stop there. You have an OEM bar. It's always a good idea to give the year (which you did) and model Spyder/Ryker you're asking about because that will many times make a difference as to the correct answer. Which...

    Interesting Throttle Mod Video

An ECU flash is the right way to do it. But it's not plug and play. Nor is it inexpensive. Everything is a trade-off. The PedalBox and Pedal Commander are viable products that do a great job for a reasonable amount of cost and effort.

    Interesting Throttle Mod Video

No, Banks does not make a Throttle Modifier for the Spyder/Ryker. That's why I placed the thread in the 'Off Topic' forum. But Spyder/Ryker owners have other vehicles which they might find the video helpful. I agree that the rhetoric was over the top. But it helps to look at it from Mr. Banks...

    Interesting Throttle Mod Video

Advertising can be a free-for-all proposition. Seldom do you get an in depth, honest accounting for a product. My opinion is that most customers don't want to put that much effort into it. So, slick marketing can sometimes be more important to the producer than a straight shooting presentation...
