• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Greta trip report. Keep the updates coming. I'm putting my trip on the Classic GW forum. This is where I have put my trips so far. Will post forum site page for the inmates. Made it across without a problem except that there was a lot of rain and wind. Supposed to get better this week...

    Solo to Alaska

Good for you! The Mrs and I have just left Victoria BC for Newfoundland and other points east, and will probably be on the road for some two months - thinking some 20,000 Kms round trip. 2014 Spyder RTL with an N-Line trailer. She and I did the Victoria to Dawson City return in 2019 on my...

Should I use API SM Oil; & can low oil cause exhaust smoke?

Any Motorcycle oil that is rated at JASO MA II or better will work fine providing there are no friction modifiers in the oil. The API rating is not the issue when it comes to the oil you should use. You should look for the JASO standard and/or the API donut with the lower half blank - see...

This is how our Spyder Axle Adjusters work!

Replaced the rear tire on my 2014 Spyder RTL recently. Had an alignment issue, the belt would move on the rear drive 1 to 5mm, and not stop in the same place. When I initially installed the wheel, put everything back together including the belt tensioner. Used a cricket to set the belt...

    Electric vehicles and the Grid

The masses do not want to be educated beause in their minds, the information has already been disseminated and is all that is needed to know. Education after this comes from being inconvenienced. Brown outs, not being able to use electrcity at certain times of the day, air conditioning bans...

Oil - why would you use Rotella T6, a diesel oil, in your Spyder?

Always read these oil threads. When I bought my 2014 Soyder RTL last year, went through the owner's and service manuals to determine what oil I should use. Owner's manual indicates a 5W40 semi-synthetic (minimum) or a synthetic oil meeting API service SL, SJ, SH, SG or higher classification...

How long does the 1300 engine last.

These engines are used in several BRP products. Good for you with your BMW. I have a friend in Ontario who would like to reide across Canada, but is concerned that his 2006 GS with approximately 70K Kms on it would not be up to the task. I have riden 42 year old Gold Wings across Canada...

F3T Rear Spring Upgrade - what springs are suitable/available?

Piratezz is correct, no off the shelf solution when using the OEM shock. It will be change and try program. I upgraded the suspension on my 2014 RTL with M2 shocks. Marcus has been very good and supportive in what I need. The front shocks came with 250 lb/in springs, changed to 300 lb/in...

2022 Work Period - My Spyder

Finished up some work on the Spyder. Mentioned that I found the drive belt to be "floating" between 1 cm and 5 cm on the rear drive sprocket. Did the belt tension again with the belt tensioner disconnected. Belt is now tensioned properly. Had to set the belt alignment. With the belt tension...

COUNTERING INFLATION - my method of making Money

Good post. You have a plan, and you stick to it. It's when you deviate fro your plan that things go astray. A book I liked was "Way of the Turtle". Excellent read and mirrors your thoughts.

    Mesh jacket recommendations

Agree. The Olympia mesh jacket I bought is a 4XL, and I am not a 4XL at 6'2" and 230 pounds.

    Mesh jacket recommendations

Bought another Olympia mesh jacket - Alpha jacket slate colour. Had one before but the cut was not quite right. This jacket fits well. The one feature that I really like is the rain liner can be worn inside the jacket or overtop of the jacket. It doubles as a wind break when worn over top of...

    suspension coil spacers for Ryker?

The 2019 Ryker Rally has a rear suspension travel of 6.9" - rather respectable. I would surmise the rear shock is designed for this. As mentioned what information was sent to Elka to determine how the rear shock would be put together? A riding profile is hard to determine. Need weights...

Any ideas to Remove paint overspray from tupperware??

Try this, very good. Works for polishing with course, medium and fine polishing pads - one product does all three.

    Aftermarket shocks - maintenance

Jim - Have M2 shocks on my 2014 RTL. Happy with the M2 product. Still adjusting the suspension to get to where I want it. There are a good number of aftermarket shock manufacturers out there that can provide you with shock(s) to meet your requirement(s) of a "plug and play - forget and go...

2022 Work Period - My Spyder

Monitoring the drive belt It seems to be floating between 5 mm and 1 mm on the rear drive sprocket. Will look at the service manual and have a chat with the local dealer. Took it for a ride with the Mrs over the Malahat for coffee and treat this afternoon. Hooked up the N-Line trailer to test...

    Scrapped my ELKA shocks

I upgraded to M2 shocks all round on my 2014 Spyder RTL. Like the ride and performance change. Marcus has been good. I have changed the springs from the original delivery to suit my requirements, Marcus supplied the upgraded springs. When you call, you get Marcus on the phone. There are...

2022 Work Period - My Spyder

Went for a two-up ride over the Malahat to Mill Bay for a light lunch at Tim's. Good ride, weather was great. Upgraded front shock springs worked well. Changed the 250 lb/in for 300 lb/in. As mentioned thinking very close to the sweet spot. Have found 325 lb/in shock springs that I think...
