• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Engine blown...

Blew the engine at 21000+ miles. Running back form Bay area to SActo, engine puttered and almost died while I was pleasantly tooling along at 70 on I80. Check Oil light came on, but no other messages on the display. Took it off the freeway, cooled it down to 2 bars ( from 5 -- temp reading...

92 degrees, 103 degree heat index = nasty running Spyder..

Must be the humidity -- can't be the heat. I just got back from cross-country, rode through OK, TX, NM, AZ, CA with temps over 100 the whole time, doing 75-85 on the freeways. Hottest was 110 in CA. No problems at all -- except that it runs a little rough now at anything less than 65 mph...

    what else is available

I test-rode a Goldwing trike the day before purchasing the Spyder. Its like riding your La-Z-boy down the street -- you get there, and its comfortable, but not much fun. If you're just interested in air and drive mostly freeways on long-haul trips, I can see it. But the next day, riding the...

    Corbin Driver Backrest

Yes, I'm using the nut that supposedly locks the backrest . It doesn't work too well. Would try locktite, but have found not much use anyway. And yes, this is only a problem when the backrest is used for the driver -- no problems at all when used for the passenger. I agree that you probably...

National Spyder run in Colorado-July 2010?

Sounds great! There are some fine rides there. I did Pikes Peak this year on my way out East, but froze my *(&( off.

    Corbin Driver Backrest

I've got Corbin seats and a Corbin backrest for the driver's seat, which also works for the passenger. Two things: one, it doesn't cause you to lean forward. You can adjust the tilt on it. but.. two: the back protector on my tech jacket , along with the vibrations of the Spyder, lifts the...

Post here if you have over 5000 miles, not kilometers on your Spyder

19000 plus -- should hit 20000 by the end of the month. Brakes still squeal, runs a little rough at the moment -- doesn't want to run at less than 60 mph ( must have gotten used to 75 on the x-country trip). Never put in for the 5k pin -- will wait for the 25K.

    Dealer Recommendations Baltimore MD?

I'm heading out East on June 1 from Calif and expect to need an oil change around Baltimore, MD. I've got the list of dealers, but does anyone have experience with these guys? I'd like to know which would be the best dealer to take it to. Just had the 12000 mile service done and paid 458 for...

    Givi bag latches

I'm wondering about the BRP racks also. The posts I've seen are all wonderfully obscure as to whether the bags only or the bags and the rack are quick-release. I only see running with the Givi's when doing my long-distance trips, not around town.

IT'S ALIVE, IT'S ALIVE!!!!!! (Pic warning)

Great paint job! Obviously, I like the color -- you've got some copper where mine is black, and vice versa. Love your seats - we had to very carefully color over the yellow piping with copper -- not nearly as cool!

    gas milage

I usually get about 32-33 around town and about 40 on my long rides... but yesterday I rode from Sacto over the hill to Carson City, NV. 125 miles and the damn thing only took 2.43 gallons to fill up in Carson City -- that's something like 50 mpg, right?? Used the cruise control for some of...

    Pegs

No Magic Neon makes not only the highway peg brackets, but you can also get extenders that let you raise the footpeg up. I have these with a 5 inch extension, and Harley footpegs. Very comfortable for this 5'4" rider. Try to check out what other folks have before you buy.

    helmet lock

I use a retracting cable lock from Aerostich/Riderwarehouse that stays in the trunk until I need it -- It loops thru any number of helmets ( it extends to about 3') , through the grab bars, and then retracts so no extra cable is hanging around...

So who am I going to see at the BRP event in June?

Unfortunately, I'll be heading the other direction when y'all are coming out to CA. I'll be doing my Hwy 50 Sacto to Ocean City June 1-20, so I'll be sure and wave at anyone I see headed west! http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/smilies/a18.gif

Got any long trips planned for the Spyder?

Well, I'm starting out June 1 for a cross-country via US 50 from Sacramento to Ocean City, MD, ( with short detour to Denver) then visiting friends in Baltimore, PA(York, Northeast PA, Pittsburgh), NY and western MA, then back out via Rt 66. Before then I'll be doing a few overnights -- one...

Help me build a SpyderWeb across America!

Count me in. I'll be riding West to East via US 50 June 1 through 21, then up thru PA, NY, MA. Sometime in mid-July I'll be heading back to Sac-town via Rt 66 starting in Bloomington Ill. I can pick it up anywhere in along the route and take it to anywhere else... I've got nothing else to do...
