• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Blackstone Labs Oil Analysis

Just another random report with oil change intervals from 5000 to roughly 8000 miles on the Rotella T-6. I probably will sample again on my next change around 58-60,000 miles. Like they say, viscosity is sheared back by the gearbox and is probably the main reason to change the oil earlier...

Checking oil on F3... How tricky it can be?

I am guessing that very few shops allow their techs to take a 20 -30 minute ride to heat up the oil and then let it idle for 10 minutes before checking the oil level as per specifications. And since the customer might check the dipstick in the parking lot before leaving and see a low level...

Checking oil on F3... How tricky it can be?

Go with the Link that MakoShark posted on the BRPCares response for checking the oil on the 1330 engine. Short version : Ride it 10 miles - (preferably check after coming back from a longer ride, you'll know its hot), pull in the garage and let it idle 10 minutes (while you get your gear...

So after searching, have question in regards to the tires in front

ACDC , We put the 165/55 R15 Federal Formoza AZ01's on the wifes 16 F3T at 40,160 miles... the original Kendas rolled OK until then.. But my wife really likes the Federal Formosas. Of course she always likes new shoes :ohyea:

    Whats in your toolkit?

My wife carries the StopnGo mushroom plug tire repair kit with compressor on the F3T. I carry the Rugged Geek battery jump pack, the Lamonster stepless ratchet/bit tool, a paint can lifter to pull the push pins, and assorted zip ties, replacement push pins and 6 mm screws. A couple 12 mm...

    Rear wheel balancing?

Centramatic balancers will give you balance for many tires over the life of the bike and pay for itself....saves time as well if you can remove the rear wheel yourself... I ordered the last couple of Generals from Walmart and they include mounting, so we have new rear tires on the F3T and RT...

    New 2019 F3

It does depend on road quality and wear and as stated by Rattlebars a worn road base with 70 to 100" track width from cars and trucks will cause our little 3 wheeled scooters to wander and hunt for a stable track (width of the front tires on the Spyders is about 58" outside to outside) without...

    2019 F3 Limited Air Bag

Just A Caution not to use a shop ail hose to air up the air bag.... the volume in the bag is very small and you can blow out the bag with too much volume/pressure from a shop compressor. A small electric or hand pump is safer, or you can use a portable air tank with 20-30 psi max to...

    Oil Drain Plug Overtightened

The torque on oil drain plugs is so low- in the Inch pound range that using the book values calls for very careful application of a 1/4" drive torque wrench that can operate efficiently in a mid-range of its operating span. Also, I question the published torque values as are they a dry...

Rear tire sizing and possible gearing affects

The nominal tire sizes will give you a good idea but slight manufacturing differences probably also change the actual speed at the road surface (as does tire wear). Yep you might be overthinking it. We all like to tinker and experiment, and this is acceptable staying within a couple ranges of...

Here's what we've done for Rear Tires!

We like the 215/60R15 Altimax RT43 on the back because it wears and rolls well, and it gets the mph within 1 of the GPS actual speed. On my 15 RT with the 79 tooth rear sprocket that means I can set the cruise to 66 showing on the Speedometer and the actual will be 65 mph for the majority...

    New 2019 F3

If you have a slim jack and a piece of plywood you can lift under the A-arm near the suspect wheel until it just clears the floor and spin it while you check the "up & down" hop or the side to side wobble. Be careful not to put your fingers through the spokes as they can jam into the caliper...

    Pressure on new Vredestein tires

Sorry for the unformatted data copied from a spreadsheet I started last Spring. We took a cool early season trip to Taos typical of our riding style, and saw tire pressures increasing about 2 psi on the front Kumho Solus and Federal Formosas and about 3 psi on the rear Generals. Although...

    Shop knowing better then me?

No Biggee, I just put new rear tires on the RT and F3 so they would be ready for next season. I only got 21,000 out of the last General but it wore even at 26 psi and probably could have gotten a couple more thousand, but its good to get the maintenance done during "down" season...

What RPM shift points for a 2019 RT?

"proper shifting points and minimum rpm to keep that trans happy?" The 1330 triple engine is a strong engine with a flat torque curve of 88 lbft above 2800 rpm and a 10% boost above 4500 rpm. If you want performance and acceleration go for high revs, --but if you want fuel economy, the...

    Torx

When dealing with brand new "Lok-tited" bolts and screws its always nice to have a new Torx bit to grip better. I found a 2 pack of Torx 30 bits at Lowes the other day for a little more than $3. I'll keep one in the tool kit on the RT and add the other to the tool chest. It also seems...

    Tools for extended traveling

Lineberr, It sounds like you've got the basics and with a roadside assistance card and a cellphone you should be good. With our 200,000 miles to date on 3 RTs and the 2016 F3T we have fixed two flats with your #2 items (actually used a plug in compressor and then a garage air hose to...
