• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where might I find Custom fit soft bag liners??????

I've been searching for some custom fit bag liners both here and on the "interweeb" to no vail. Side bags seem to be available, but nothing has hit me as being a good fit for the trunk and frunk on pre 2020 models. Where might I find something that fills the spaces more completely than the...

Have you come up with Additional turn signals for '21 RT?

Here's what I did at very low cost from Oznium.com. These are tapped into the signals on the mirrors.

    Texting while riding - rant!

totally agree; those kinds of people are prime candidates for a Darwin Award. Lew L. As for it not being anyone's problem but theirs, if they cause an accident in front of you, it could become your problem very quickly at 110ft/sec (75mph).

Anyone have ideas on fitting Mechanical Parking brake? 2011 RT

Mine does not free roll until you hit the mode button followed by the starter button. Then and ONLY then does it shift itself into neutral. Otherwise, it stays in gear and resistance from the transmission can be detected when trying to roll it. Yes, I have tested it after leaving it in both...

Post up your Local Area Weather News - January Edition, 2023

On my very nice 330-mile ride with little to no wind, it was ~65° when I left at 1:00. Reached 82° at the halfway point in Childress to have an early dinner with my wife on her return trip from Denton and was back down to 57° when we returned home at 8:00. :riding:

Still can't figure out how to post full size pictures in a post

Well, OK then, I asked because a while back a few folks whined about having to click on the thumb nails to see my pics. With your advice, I will just ignore those who have whined about me not posting full size pictures. :2thumbs:

Still can't figure out how to post full size pictures in a post

I did a search for how to post full size pictures, so folks don't have to click on a thumb nail to view my pictures. Can't seem to find instructions someone once shared. :dontknow:

What else is in your Garage?

I say the proper number of bikes is n+1; my wife refuses to accept that. :spyder:

Anyone have ideas on fitting Mechanical Parking brake? 2011 RT

OK. I just tested the point of whether or not a 2014 RT-L stays in gear after shut down or at what point it goes into neutral. I turned the key on and waited about 15 seconds. Nothing happened so I tried to roll it; still in gear. I did not see the neutral light come on until about a second...

Anyone have ideas on fitting Mechanical Parking brake? 2011 RT

Granted, I have not tried to roll the Spyder without the brake set and before start up. I will definitely give it a try tomorrow by killing it without setting the brake or going to neutral manually and listen to the annoying warning beep for a bit to see what happens. Until now, I have only...

Dynamic Driving Light Kit - Hooking to Hi Beams Question - 2019 RTL

IdahoMtnSpyder, Those look very similar to some I have used on the bikes in the past. The first pic are 1200 Lumen but I found some 8000 Lumen units (second pic) from the same supplier on Amazon today that I am thinking about mounting just as you have them in your picture. They are only...

Dynamic Driving Light Kit - Hooking to Hi Beams Question - 2019 RTL

I cannot address the wiring issues but had a thought on the placement of the unit as regards hitting the body. Even though it would create another shadow from the front fender, moving the unit back to where it is centered in line with the pivot point of the wheel should eliminate hitting the...

Anyone have ideas on fitting Mechanical Parking brake? 2011 RT

Since Spyders stay in gear until you restart them (at least that's what mine does) no need to worry about the brake or a chock. Unless you feel the need to find neutral manually upon parking, but why would you? Even if the elderly person's Spyder does not do that, they could keep the chock...

Anyone installed a Turn Signal Audible alarm? 2017 F3T

Be careful what you ask for; one of the older bikes I have had one installed when I first got it. Those are so annoying; I tore it out after the first ride. Install some easier to see LEDs someplace to remind you to cancel them when the auto-cancel is not quick enough to suit you. (like when...

Anyone have ideas on fitting Mechanical Parking brake? 2011 RT

I agree with you on that and after repairing my ruined cable & pulley have been brainstorming to do the same thing. The problem lies in the microswitch that the lobe on the pulley activates to tell the nanny the brake status. I think finding a way to set the brake manually would be fairly...

Do I really need a GPS?

Just my personal opinion based on experience with the Garmin Zumo 590(?). Not really sure what designation it is as we have not used the worthless POS in about 3 years. It came with the Spyder supposedly programmed for good riding routes. HA! What a freaking joke it and Garmin Base Camp are...

Other than better luggage design are the 2020s that much better than a 2014?

I really do need to get back down to the hill country again soon. I have ridden the Twisted Sisters (Three Sisters?) five times now since 2005. Three times on a BMW R1200C and twice on an R1100RT. I have yet to do it on my sport bike (R1100S) or the Spyder. There was a plan in place to get...
