• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HELP What holds 2019 RT passenger backrest on?

Yup. I was very shocked. Everything went so well and then the last thing was to put the passenger backrest on. It’s almost as if you could actually use a screw rather than a bolt because I didn’t hit anything metal inside the small holes in the backrest.

HELP What holds 2019 RT passenger backrest on?

So today I removed the seat from our 2011 RT because I found a used seat, drivers backrest and passenger backrest from a 2019 RT Limited. Everything went well with no lost nuts or bolts until it came time to install the 2019 passenger backrest. On the 2011 the passenger backrest is held on by 3...

Just a thought regarding searching on the forum

Hit reserve today at 167 miles. Rode an additional 15 miles and filled up as described above. I can’t remember now how much gas it took because I worked it our right after the fill up. Anyway, I know it was 35 mpg so I was pleased.

Thanks very much for your input. I’m currently at 149 miles on the tank and have 2 bars remaining with no low fuel light yet. I’m sure it’s close though.

Just a thought regarding searching on the forum

I’m posting this realizing that I may get flamed because I’m fairly new…………..However…… Today I was doing searches on fuel range for my 2011 RT. It would really be of assistance on all searches if everyone was kind enough to put their year and model of Spyder or Ryker in their signature. That way...

Brake lights work with key off - is that right?

I’ve done a search with no luck. Just picked up a 2011 RT SM5 and noticed that when I turn the key off, the headlights turn off after a few seconds which seems normal. However, when I press the brake pedal the brake lights come on which doesn’t seem normal to me. You’re input is appreciated as...

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

Thanks to everyone for your valued input. It’s greatly appreciated. I did the paperwork this morning so now I just have to wait until next Wednesday to pick it up. We’re both very excited to be getting a Spyder again. Regards Greg

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

Thanks Paul: Got the Owners Manual already. I’ll have them make sure the fronts are at #5. Already asked them to check the hoses and the sway bar. Lousy time of year to buy. I just walked the dog at 7 AM and it was chilly. That’s ok though, still a couple of months of good riding left before the...

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

Thanks Bruce: The purchase is from a very large and reputable Can Am dealer and is only 5 kms from home. I’ve bought from them before and have used them for service as well so I have confidence in them. Your write up is very very helpful. Maybe I’ll tape it to the inside of the windshield lol...

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

So today my wife and I test rode a 2011 RT (basic) SM5. It’s been 2 years since I’ve ridden a Spyder so it felt really twitchy for about 100 yards and then everything came back to me. I kinda liked the manual shifting once I got used to the friction zone for the clutch. I’m planning on going to...

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

I’m glad that you’ve had better luck that I had. I bought a 2012 SE5 RT used from an older gentleman (I was old but he was older lol). Anyway, it only had 15,000 miles on it when I bought it. I was well aware of the importance of keeping the revs high before shifting but despite that the clutch...

What to watch for if buying a 2011 RT

Thanks for the reply. It’s appreciated. I guess my fear with the SE5 is that if the revs aren’t kept high for shifting, there have been clutch failures and I’ve been one of the victims with a costly clutch replacement. My understanding is that with the SM5, the problem goes away but can’t...
