• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Flooded Spyder

I ride a 2009 SE5, with Hindle exhaust, KewlMetal intake, and some other mods. Went to a motorbike event this past week-end, some 350 Km. away from home. During the nights, my Spyder was parked uncovered in the hotel parking-lot, next to the main building. One night a huge downpour that lasted...

    Coolant Reservoir

Bought a replacement bottle last year and this week it just cracked (vertical cracks on the centerline, on the area where the internal baffle / reinforcement is glued / "welded" to the bottle). So much for improvement... :yikes:

    Backfiring through engine on RS

Scotty: Speaking of "coughing back through the intake", and exhaust backfire... I have a 2009 SE5 with a Hindle exhaust (liked the sound...), a KewlMetal air box (to get rid of the oil-in-the-airbox problem and gain access to the upper engine section...). Mileage now is around 12500, mostly...

    Issues with Spyder

By the way..., I tried the sponge in the breather hose first...; but it got clogged, and the resulting built-up pressure inside the engine cases caused oil leaks thru the drive-shaft oil-seal and other minor places... :yikes:

    Issues with Spyder

The oil blow-by still goes on, but routed directly into the throttle body..., not pooling in and spilling out of the huge air-box and onto the engine and radiator. I had to install the KewlMetal air intake in my 2009 SE5 to resolve the oil-spilling problem and, as an additional "bonus", I...

    The dumbest Spyder question yet.

Uuupsss..., sorry for the typo, I meant axles... Anyway, just returned from running some errands (Honey Do's), riding on the SE5. A bunch of guys were riding in the back of a pick-up truck. When we stopped at a traffic light one of them asked me: "that thing also runs on water...?". After...

    Just a Coolant tank hint

From my experience with my 2009 SE5, I can tell you that it is a lot easier to find the leak after the engine has been started and it is fully warmed up. The cracks in my plastic bottle developed lined up with the bottle internal baffle, but were not visible when the engine was cold because...

    Frunk Locked

From a Facebook Spyder guy I have heard about a problem he has with the "frunk" lock cable. He wants to know how to replace it, but I guess that the real question may be: How do I open the frunk if the cable broke...? :yikes: Anybody's guess...? Saludos, Pilo

    Belt Tension Bulletin

It's been a while since I checked the forum. I wonder where are now located the BRP service bulletins that were originally posted at the bottom of the main page. I am looking for the Belt Tension Revision Bulletin. Thanks, Pilo

    Shift solenoid ground wire

Check your ride's left side... Hard to say without knowing the year, and whether the SE5 already came from dealer / factory with the coils' grounding trick installed or not. Remove the left side red Tupperware and check for these kind of arrangements which show the trick installed...

Annoyed by people asking how much $$$$ ...

Rudeness is a way of life... Here rudeness on the street is a way of life... Usually in traffic lights or traffic jams somebody surely stops by or simply shouts his lungs out and asks the damn question, without even saying "Hello" Depending on the looks of the guy and my mood, I have two...

    NEED ADVICE

I have the same set up in my 2009 SE5. Installed the Hindle because of looks and sound. And it started popping at deceleration. Then I did the "canisterectomy" to get rid of fumes near the engine and gas tank. No noticeable changes in the air-gas mixture. Due to oil leaking out of the huge OEM...

    stuck in reverse

Coils' grounding trick done...? Mine did something similar to yours, showing "E" and "R" in the display, until I did the wiring trick.

    The dumbest Spyder question yet.

Traffic Cops Coming back form a short trip with a bunch of bikers, we were stopped at a police check-point before entering the city. One of the cops was checking my vehicle registration thoroughly (probably looking for something wrong in order to make a fast buck...). He said: "the...

Funny reaction at a fuel stop

I had the same problems (as almost everybody else who rides a Spyder...), until I installed a Scorpio SR-i800 alarm with a perimeter sensor that starts chirping and then sounding louder as people gets nearer, until it blows into a full alarm ear piercing sound that usually deters them from...

You got to love this guy

No problem with asking..., fellow amp... I am an AKA. My prosthesis is a vacuum / suction type with no liner or pin. I rarely use it while riding the Spyder because it causes discomfort at the buttock and groin after some time. Only use it for very short rides or city runs. Check some pics...

    Just a Coolant tank hint

Anybody knows why...? ...the coolant reservoir (bottle) develops cracks...? With less than 10K miles on my 2009 SE5, its coolant tank has to be replaced due to hairline cracks at front (leaking badly) and at rear (not yet leaking but crack is already developing). Coincidentially, the cracks...

You got to love this guy

Not to be outdone... ;-) The SE5 has allowed me to feel the wind and the sun in the face once again... :ohyea: I usually keep my artificial leg tightly folded inside the frunk, and carry my forearm crutches in those home-made adapters... See my motto at bottom (signature).
