• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tips on chopping the rear fender

Can't find the post There was a posting (which I cannot find) related to your query, from where I downloaded these pics about a year ago. I remember that the owner did it with a hack-saw and a dremel tool, but he let some 1/4" leeway so he could adjust, trim, and redo any mistakes he may have...

    SE5 Centrifical Clutch

SE5 Creeping It seems to be a recurring issue with many SE5's. Mine (a 2009 model) did just the same quite a few times, especially when hot, and while riding in stop-n-go traffic. Now, with over 5K miles on it, it rarely (if ever) does it, and I do not feel that the clutch has been somehow...

    Oil-Seal part number (main shaft)

    Oil-Seal part number (main shaft)

Need to replace my 2009 SE5 main shaft oil-seal, the one that is located behind the front belt-sprocket. Can anybody give me the oil-seal part number...? I have a friend looking for it in the Delray Beach / Boynton Beach / Hypoluxo areas of South-East Florida. My friend will...

    Spyder Airbox

Lefty: Make sure ALL the clips are unclipped, there are some in the front, very well hidden from eye-line view... :gaah: Loosen the idle hose clamp at the right front corner and remove that end of the hose from the air-box cover. Then fiddle with the cover, lifting it as much as the frame...

    Spyder Airbox

Ron: My quote was related to the aftermarket filter set-ups (Evoluzione & KewlMetal) where the oil breather hose conects directly to the intake... I am planning to buy one of those, but wanted to make sure that it will not cause the smoking. My SE5 has only 5K miles but oil blow-by has gotten...

    Spyder Airbox

More pics of the mess... Will wash the engine tomorrow and double check for any leaks not related to the air-box blow-by, and probably install an aftermarket filter assembly like KewlMetal or Evoluzione. Tried the foam in the hose method and it got clogged... :gaah:

    Spyder Airbox

For some of us it it too much oil in the air-box, and it starts seeping out of it and on top of the engine and everywhere else, making a mess if left unattended (ask me how I know... :opps: ) My SE5 has only 5K miles but this is already happening and it doesn't seem to subside.

    Crankcase breather filter

Scotty: I did the same in my SE5, using a piece of foam the size of a thick pencil. I worked for a while, but it got clogged and pressure built up inside the engine , and produced some small leaks all around. Removed the foam yesterday, started the engine and..., no visible leaks... Tomorrow...

    Spyder Airbox

Can you elaborate... on the ease (or not) of installation of the KewlMetal filter, and your Spyder performance afterwards...? I am also interested to know if the oil blow-by from the engine breather causes your exhaust to "smoke"... :lecturef_smilie: Thanks in advance, Pilo from Venezuela

    Trunk sping

Probably yes, but it may not have had enough 'rebound' force to lift the weight of the seat... Again IMHO... :D Total cost: US$0.35 plus my labor... :ohyea:

    Trunk sping

I used a slightly bigger / thicker spring for the seat. It was just a 'seat of the pants' calculation. :doorag: Another instrument to use in these chores (for calculations) is the 'eyemeter', which also measures distances, weights, plumbness, power, stiffness, etc., etc. :D And the Mom & Dad...

    Shop Manual

I am on my own... Here in Venezuela I have to do all maintenance chores and small repairs by myself as there is no BRP dealership to speak of. Please enlighten me about getting a maintenance / shop e-manual for a 2009 SE5. Thanks and regards, Pilo

    Gasoline filter hose

I checked the lenght of the hose going into the carb-body, and although it was not really slack, it did not appeared taught. I did my best to re-accomodate it to give it just a little more slack and then pushed it back with needle-nose pliers against the filter. It was very tight on the stub...

    Gasoline filter hose

No, the hose cannot be moved, and no, it does not leak. In fact it took me some serious pushing / pulling / juggling with 'needle-tip' pliers to slide it back to the filter side. Saludos, Pilo
