• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Gasoline filter hose

Thanks Scotty, I'll change the clamp and will keep an eye on it. My 2009 SE5 has the corrugated tubing (flexiconduit...?) over the hose, and the hose itself is not really taught. Could it be the pressure exerted by the gas pump...? Saludos, Pilo

    Canisterectomy

While doing the canisterctomy on my SE5 yesterday I found this (second time in two months). Will probably have to change the clamp. Saludos, Pilo

    After canisterectomy...runs like crap!!! :(

Battery disconnect...? I did the canisterectomy on my SE5 yesterday but could not see any results for the better. The gas smell is still there, and I even did a 'high-point' goose-neck in the tank breather extension, to make sure that gasoline will not go past this point, just the fumes...

    Gasoline filter hose

I think that this issue has been addressed sometime before (by Scotty...?), but could not find it. Yesterday, after doing the canisterectomy to my SE5 I did an inspection in the area to make sure that everything was fine. I found that the gasoline filter's downstream hose was somewhat loose /...

    What are these...?

While doing the first oil change on my SE5, I came across these two 'contraptions' and could not figure out what they were or their function. Anybody wants to guess...? Saludos, Pilo

    Surge Cured

Don: Do you still smell crude gasoline odor after the canisterectomy? I extended and re-routed the canister vent up to the rear axle, but still get some odor after filling the tank, or when stopped at a traffic-light having the wind blowing from the back. You can still see fumes and a few gas...

    Panel O-Rings

Don't get it Hey Tajohn: I do many tasks, adjustments, and minor modifications on my new 2009 SE5 and remove the tupperware often but, so far, I have not lost any screws. I am about to do my first oil change and want to be prepared. Unfortunately, I do not quite understand your explanation...

    Carrying Crutches

Don't have one... Aubierules: I am a left aka and have not used my artificial leg (yet...) when riding my SE5, so I have those pegs available to carry my crutches. Whoever rides on the pillion seat just rest their left foot on the crutches. Saludos, Pilo

Audible click when braking to a stop.

No Mike, it is not a 'continuous' clicking sound, just one click, like if something was somehow loose in the front end, but after many inspections and searches I could not find anything askew down there... :dontknow:

Audible click when braking to a stop.

You hit the nail in the head jabba11..., as I continue riding my SE5, and yes, the click is still there, but as I said, I did (and I don't) pay much attention to it. The braking in my SE5 has always been a little mushy for my taste, although still effective, but a bleed job may fix it...

Audible click when braking to a stop.

Me too... I also have (or had...) the click coming from the front end... It is been quite a while since I have paid attention to it, but it clicked while stopping to almost a stand-still (in 1st. or reverse) at slow speed. For a moment I thought I had inadvertently dropped one of my metric...

    Trunk sping

More like the James Bond's Aston-Martin passenger seat... (remember those movies...?)

    Trunk sping

Trunk and seat latch... I did the trunk latch spring trick and works just fine, popping every time. I guess I got carried away :D , because I did the same trick on the seat latch, but used a stronger spring. It pops the seat open and the lifting mechanism (air-jack?) takes advantage of the...

    SE5 creeps from a stop

From an Argentinean... Hey Dochands: If you ever get to Argentina (my country) on your Spyder, you won't regret it..., and probably would like to stay a little longer (like forever...) Saludos, Pilo

    SE5 creeps from a stop

JL: Thanks for your PM's. The article about motorcycle oils is gold...:2thumbs: You should share it with the SpyderLovers... I have done the Maracaibo-Puerto La Cruz ride (800 miles) 3 or 4 times. When I had the accident in late 2000, I was traveling back from PLC to MBO on my 1999 CBR900RR...

    SE5 creeps from a stop

Tom: AKA means 'above the knee amputation'. I lost my left leg in a bike accident in late 2000. The SE5 is the perfect bike for my kind of disability. :2thumbs: I have the same non-plussed feeling :( when I am asked that question, as I was also brought up like you. I have thought about being...

    SE5 creeps from a stop

Carlo called again... Just had a long phone conversation with Carlo. It seems that BRP is making arrangements with a Venezuelan BRP dealer in Caracas (the capital, 500 miles away) to carry the Spyder line. That is sort of reassuring, and definitely a lot closer than Honduras... :D We...

    SE5 creeps from a stop

Hi Tom: I am just concerned about the clutch wear / tear / heat during the 'break-in' period. Sometimes I also shift it into neutral and then back into 1st., especially when idle RPM's sort of flutter, but I will take care of that issue with the 'canisterectomy', which I will perform soon...

    SE5 creeps from a stop

Last Sunday I rode the SE5 around for nearly 3 hours in hot city traffic and the 'creeping' was slight, not severe, when / if it happened. It seems to be subsiding now. I used the throttle blip and it worked every time. Question is if this method will somehow damage, wear, the clutch and / or...
