• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Stebel Horn

Stebel A nice feature of the Stebel is that, since it takes a brief instant to "spool up" to full volume, a soft little toot can be managed when you only wish to make a polite acknowledgement rather than WAKE SOME ONE UP!

RAM mount for left side of handlebar

I want to mount a Zumo 550 GPS on the left side of the handlebar of my 2014 RT-Limited. Attaching a RAM ball to the back side of the cradle is easy enough; then a short extension arm to another RAM ball mounted, um, to exactly where/how on the handlebar???? Seems like I've seen some sort of...

    LEDs

reflectivity All I have to do is imagine my Spyder sidelined on the shoulder of a busy interstate at night (ran out of gas, maybe? who knows -- it can happen) to acknowledge that having a decent set of red reflectors showing up from a LONG way back in the beam of the traffics' headlights is a...

Items to bring to Spyderfest, ADD to the list.

riding in old undies Bob: Tempting as it is to save all your old skivvies to use as disposable diapers to and from Spyderfest, I personally find that a part of the secret of all-day-comfort in the saddle is the best wicking/synthetic underwear I can find. Not to get overly graphic, but a...

Anyone Tried These Highway Pegs on their RT?

highway pegs I would be interested in comments from anyone who has used this same company's highway pegs which mount directly onto the BRP floorboards. http://www.canamspyderaccessories.com/highway-pegs-rt-series-for-2013-with-brp-floorboards/ Pete

    Wind on the person behind

Incorrect helmet fit Thanks for the suggestion, Peter. The helmet does happen to be new, but she's pretty picky about how well her lids fit, and hates drafts up from underneath. Maybe the next opportunity to ride in the rain, we'll dig out the previous helmet, which did not have any issues on...

    Wind on the person behind

Baker Built Airwings Thanks for the suggestion and nice illustration. At this fall's Spyders in the Smokies, your crew installed the two lower wings, as pictured. I'm ordering the wide, vented F4 wins=dshield, next.

    Wind on the person behind

My lady friend has enough 2-wheel "Second Rider" experience to know a good windshield from an ineffective one. While the stock windscreen on our 2014 RT-Limited makes things fairly quiet and non-turbulent for me (5'8"), her take is quite different. At interstate speeeds, the windshield has to...

Deep thought There are considerable benefits to the passenger being able to see what's going on, however the driver can enable/encourage it.

BRP Welcome to the family Packets

welcome patch? To heck with a pin or patch; BRP could make friends just by seeing that new models on the floor are properly alligned!

    Helmet communications

headsets Jackie and I ride two-up on an RT-Limited. Enjoyed the pair of SENA 20s we used, but then they got to be inconsistent in operation and the various functions when combined (e.g. intercom with music from phone) didn't always function correctly. Called SENA and explained the problem...

Spyders In The Ozarks-Dates and Host Hotel is set!

the Ozarks as a destination Lamont: I've only motorcycled and camped in the Ozarks once, but that certainly whetted my appetite to return. Good BBQ and friendly Spyder ryders would be a plus, especially if camping options were front and center rather than an afterthought. Informal appeals...

    Accident - Sad to see..

regarding long teeth and opinions Jack: Long teeth are better than none at all. Just a final point about conspicuity through use of brake lights: often on bikes and trykes we just roll off the gas and achieve enough deceleration to slow for what's ahead. Unfortunately, just rolling off...

    Accident - Sad to see..

avoiding being rear-ended I have to agree with Bob here. Searching for an escape avenue while still coming to a stop ahead (WAAAY ahead, when possible) so you'll have somewhere to go if you see something bad about to happen from behind is your best defense. Slow early and gradually whenever...
