• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My first really, really close call on the Spyder

Vehicles turning in front of motorcycles seems to be, by far, the major cause of collisions... Generally, the cager driver's brain didn't register properly - cycle with headlight on, not speeding... So assume they are about to turn in front of you. Aux lights &/or flashing headlights help.

My first thousand miles on the Spyder

I recently sold a Ryker 600 that I put some miles on, learned to guide if rather than muscle it, especially over bumps and uneven roadway, same on the Spyder. I'm generally resting my hands on the bars as opposed to constantly trying to correct the path. My posture must be contributing to the...

My first thousand miles on the Spyder

Thanks, I miss my Goldwing also. I toured on a 1500 and an 1800, terrific rides for sure, zero issues over 30,000 miles

My first thousand miles on the Spyder

Picked up a 2010 998 RT, 20k mi, and after some confusing shifter issues, it's running fine. I like the comfort, power, and storage, but I'm not thrilled with the absence of the two wheel feel, the bikes reaction to the wind, truck turbulence, the tupperwear covering everything up, and the cramp...

Newbie to Spyders - I've just bought a 2012 RS Roadster! Have I done the right thing?!

Go to "motorcycle ergonomics"; find your bike; put your height and inseam in; it gives you an idea of what you can do to get more comfortable...

Thanks for the replies, I wasn't expecting a serious reply as my question was more sarcastic than anything else....

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

What diameter tire would I need on my 2010 to hit 40 mpg? Getting 27mpg now....

Shifter woes have me stumped... Won't shift up - again! What's my next step?

Need to change the oil, it looks nasty. I have the crush washers, waiting on the filter... How much oil does the filter housing hold? I'm thinking of draining the sump and block and refilling... It's got to be better than what's in there now...

Shifter woes have me stumped... Won't shift up - again! What's my next step?

YOU GUYS!... Low oil, slightly, added 1/4 qt, all is well... time for oil change anyway! After Evo Harleys, multiple Hondas, this is my first time on such an electronic, automatic everything bike, I have stuff to learn... Thanks again, Mick. Where are you sourcing oil change filters, seals etc?

Shifter woes have me stumped... Won't shift up - again! What's my next step?

New to me 2010 RT, 20k mi, pretty bike... a couple of days ago it would not shift up, so I took the left side switch apart, cleaned it up, took the wife on a two hour ride, during which it shifted perfectly, parked it, and today, it won't shift out of first... again! What am I missing? It will...

Any DIY cup holder ideas out there?

New to me 2010, need a cup holder, anyone install one on the giant sized handebars? Don't want one that attaches via the screws that hold switches on... seems like a bracket held on with a clamp that attaches to a generic ball mount would give a lot of options... Thanks.

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Riding position is critical, being tall, it narrows down what bikes will fit you... the Spyder RT seems to fit taller riders... Happy motoring.

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Looked at Spyders quite a bit over the past few months... prices are all over the place for sure. Comparable bikes, one for $4500, one for $8000... it pays to look and look, marketplace, craigslist, cycle trader, you'll find one.

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Thanks for the feedback, at 71, coming off a year of serious illness, getting back to life, the performance of the new to me Spyder is impressive. Quick, comfortable, easy to ride, don't really need all the gadgets but, oh well... the wife and I really enjoy what the Spyder has to offer...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Was an ASE mechanic back in the day, working on the new stuff doesn't scare me, unless the gadgets start acting up...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Granted a 1330 is a better motor but the 998 is still a very good, powerful plant, especially considering I'm in it for $5000....
