• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've sent an email to my shock rebuilder to see if this is something he can do. I'll let you know as soon as he responds.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I just completed a big Spring refresh on my 2020 F3-S with just over 48,000 miles. Since my wife is now retired along with me, we'll be doing a lot more touring together, and I wanted to get the bike back to 100%. I found that one of my front shocks was leaking oil so I replaced that with a...

F3 Base - Rear shock bottoms out (stationary) with my passenger onboard. I'm shock illiterate, what do I need in a shock?

I put an Elka Stage 5 with hydraulic preload adjustment on my F3. But I weigh a little over 200 lbs and my passenger only weighs 150 lbs. I don't know if the preload can be set up for the kind of weight disparity range you're looking at. You'll need to talk to Elka. Otherwise, I suggest...

Does anyone know the 2021 F3S Fox Podium Shock (Front) Preload Adj. Spanner wrench size? Suppliers?

I got a set of them on Amazon. Search for shock spanner wrench. The one that fits the best is labeled ER40. Using two together you can break the jam tension between the nuts.

Anything good to say about the Blue Ridge windshield?

I have Barkbuster's Storm handguards with Lidlox on my 2020 F3-S. All I had to do to make it work was find the right length screws at the hardware store. PM me if you want I can measure them.

Feedback on the new Forum Format?

It always takes some time to get used to a new forum format. Every forum I've been in has eventually changed. I'm getting used to this one now and the more I'm on it the more I like it over the old one.

2025 Trip Planning - Maine Mostly

Look up Pemaquid Point lighthouse. Nice side trip off of Rt 1 and it's easy access and absolutely stunning scenery, the epitome of Maine rocky coast.

BLUEKNIGHT911 - Diagnosed June, Passed away due to cancer 23 Oct 2024 - RIP

This is a gut punch for me. I got to meet Mike last year. He hosted me at his home and we rode together for a couple days. Tried to get him out for another ride this September with a small group and he couldn't make it. RIP Mike. Here is a link to where you can leave condolences...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

I had a good look at the Canyon at Spyderquest back in September. It's very ATV-like and is made to ride comfortably in the standing position. BRP explained the lack of frunk is due to needing the high approach angle for ground clearance. The video above does a very good job showing and...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Over the last few days I rewired my accessories (Garmin GPS, Carupride Android Auto screen, front/rear camera system, add-on heated grips elements) to work off of relays tied to the accessory circuits of the bike. Now I don't have to worry about anything being left on and draining the battery...

Anything good to say about the Blue Ridge windshield?

The Blue Ridge is okay at lower speeds but at highway speeds it will buffet your head quite a bit. That is solved by adding a deflector like Xcreen on top of it.

Anyone here like planning their own routes?

I learned how to plan rides on Basecamp and found it more difficult than it needs to be. I subscribed to Rever Pro and love the Butler Maps feature which shows ratings of good, better and great motorcycle routes. It's very easy to create a route in Rever, save the gpx file and then uplink it...

    How Do You Ride?

Somehow the speed limits always feel too slow for natural speed capability of the road. Of course they're set that way for safety and I guess for public policy that makes sense. But the natural speed that "feels right" is always higher, at least for me it is. Remember when they set the...

    How Do You Ride?

I voted for "It depends on my mood". There are times when I want to go fast and make some time and times when I just want to cruise easily and relax. Put the bike on cruise control and just chill out. I also try not to let myself get boxed in with a bunch of other vehicles. So sometimes...

Jury is still out on my new Airhawk - how hard is it to find the sweet spot?

Another technique I've used for all day comfort with the Airhawk is to start the ride with it more fully inflated and then periodically release air as the day goes on. This changes the pressure points from being in the same place all the time. But the most comfortable is with very little air...

Do you remove your Airhawk seat pad when you leave your Spyder parked?

The only time I take my Airhawk off my seat is when I'm going to wash the bike or to ride without it for a while.
