• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Confessions on tour planning

I hate planning, mostly I have a vague idea of a desired destination. Turns out I prefer riding out west as I love the wide open spaces. Have not taken a trip on the Spyder yet, but dozens on my Beemers and HD road Kings. Coast to Coast, Border to Border and all over in between. This coming...

My new Daylong saddle by Russell

We started dealing with Bill Mayer, the designer and original owner of Mayer Day Long seats back in the early 70's. The original seat was a single saddle looking something like a padded tractor seat. Back then I had one of those on my '72 BMW R75/5. Most comfortable seats in the industry.

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

I still have my original Gerbings Jacket liner and heated gloves along with the original heat Troler since they originally came out over 20 years ago. Still work great.

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

Have to watch those armadillos you know....................... A West Texas tune up is running your vehicle up to the red line thru the gears, ie full throttle thru the gears, thru the first four in any event. Helps to keep things cleaned out. Combustion chamber, rings, valves, fuel system and...

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

The combustion chamber design, the air/fuel flow design and flame front propagation are different on the two Spyder engines. The more current design of the later model 3 cylinder engines will allow for a lower octane rating under the same running conditions. An occasional good West Texas Tune up...

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

Big F, I 100% agree. BajaRon, I 100% agree on running 100% gas, however I also 100% disagree on the necessity of running premium although in all fairness you never stated running 100% Premium Gas . The only times it might be a good idea to run a higher octane is low elevation and a very hot day...

Here's Rider Magazines 2023 Can Am Ryker Rally Road Test.

A great snip out of the article, "Hoon Dog With its twist-and-go CVT, peppy engine, Rally mode, wide handlebar, low seat, and feet-forward riding position, the 2023 Can-Am Ryker Rally is what Dr. Frankenstein would get if he stitched together a scooter, a cruiser, a go-kart, and an ATV. That...

My 2022 S2S has a constant RPM fluctuation - problem, or normal?

Top tier premium is is not a better or cleaner fuel than regular, the only difference for all practical purposes is it is harder to ignite and has a slower flame front, in other words, helps to reduce detonation or pre ignition.

New back tire. Short valve stem. Do extenders exist that work?

Just bought one of those from Amazon, received it yesterday and wow it works great , no need for an extender, a piece of cake to use for this 80 year old. Thanks for the suggestion, I can do all 3 tires in no time at all. A definite 'Must Have'.

The frequent lament of "they said my Spyder was not a real motorcycle!"

I don't see why anyone would care one bit about what someone says about your Spyder. An interesting point however, is that I have had more complements riding my F3 L than any other of the multiple dozens of 2 wheeler's that I have owned and still even own and ride a few.

2023 RT exhaust sounds tinny - is this normal?
