• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    newton[not fig] update

Yeah I'd say 185 off the ground would be around 215 on the ground.

I'd be interested to know what your krikit numbers come in at.

    Belt tension

From what I've seen recently the numbers have been drastically reduced to something like 140-180.

Shopping for an RS or F3?

Don't forget about the ST, that's more upright seating than the RS and your legs are under you rather than out front like the F3. Yes it's discontinued also but it's an option.

    Blue smoke on start up

Like someone else said, blue smoke on start up is valve seals. Blue smoke once it's running a while is piston rings.

removing sena sm 10 from the cradle

I think there's release tab under that center jack, then it'll slide out of the mount.

2014 Limited - 2K miles, tachometer needle light is out - how do I fix this?

It's got to be under warranty still so bring it to the dealer and let them take care of it. Unless the two year warranty is done already?

    Idling whilst in 1st gear.

If you stop far enough back from the car in front of you and shift to either the left or right side of the lane you usually always have a place to go. In trucking it's called, "leaving yourself an out".

    DirecTV vs Dish

It's just their DVR sucks. You can only record two shows at once, that's pretty barbaric this day in age. We had Charter and switched to Direct TV over two years ago and still no regrets.

    Spewing gas!

I would definitely update your dealer and BRP about the issue and let them know that this update process needs to be sped up and dealt with asap. I would let both of them know the severity of this issue. In your case someone, if not multiple people could have been seriously burned or even...

    Spewing gas!

Nope, you don't have the airflow panels. Get a complaint filed at your dealer and they'll get it worked out with BRP.

    Spewing gas!

Post a picture of your ST and we'll tell you if you've got the updated airflow panels. I'm thinking that you don't.

    Gravel

Adding the missing belt guard helps to almost eliminate that issue. Think of all the Harleys out there that ride dirt. My dad put 145k on a belt drive Harley and rode lots of dirt and chip seal and only changed the belt once for preventative maintenance.

Belt tension question - One more time

The only reason the spec was lowered was to try to get rid of vibration. If you don't have vibration at 180 then you're fine.

    Manual Or Semi-Auto?

We looked at a well priced used ST and one pull of the clutch sent us looking elsewhere.

    Manual Or Semi-Auto?

We chose the semi auto for my wife because the hand clutch was just way too stiff on the ST for her to handle if we got stuck in traffic. Even I thought it was awfully hard to pull in the clutch.

Taken from my former dealership yesterday

Those mechanics do this type of thing everyday so the thought doesn't even cross their mind that someone is going to over think these things.

Taken from my former dealership yesterday

Nope, it doesn't take much but it's a wasted step. Now if it's a heavy car/truck caliper, that's a different story.

Taken from my former dealership yesterday

There is zero harm in hanging that light weight caliper off the brake line. I wouldn't let that stop me from having service done there. It's a much more common practice than you might think.
