• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What iPhone phone app do you use to plan & track your trips?

We are iPhone users. I use good old Rand McNally for the trip overview. When it gets down to routing, I usually use Google Maps and pick waypoints to keep me on my intended route (I do this on our laptop ahead of time - easier to see and visualize the route). I write down the waypoints, and when...

The Bells! The Bells! (Nice Touch!)

Esmerelda and the Hunchback of Notre Dame They humped each other like they had no shame They paused as they posed for a Polaroid photo She whispered in his ear "Exactly-odo, Quasimodo!" John Prine "The Sins of Memphisto" I can never pass up a chance to throw some Prine lyrics out there. I hope...

2025 Planning 11th Memorial Trip to Central Texas (in memory of my wife)

We haven't ridden in Texas (yet), but depending on your route to get there, try to get through NW and West Arkansas on your way there. Really nice riding there. At least you have snow for Christmas, all we have here is cold and grey, with the Spyder parked under cover and on tender. I hope...

2025 Trip Planning - Maine Mostly

So far all good stuff - I appreciate it more than my words here describe. Thank you to each of you for replying. I am currently just putting these all on a list, then when planning starts in earnest, I'll map them out and see what we can fit in. And PS - @Arion - no such thing as too much info...

Installed a new General Altimax R45 today - My tips!

I put the General Altimax on the rear at the beginning of the 2024 season (well, my dealer did). Toured Arkansas and Missouri with it. Huge difference from the Kenda. I think you will like it.

2025 Trip Planning - Maine Mostly

So, shortly after Christmas we start planning our 2025 trip/tour. This summer, we are going to cross off the NE states that we haven't ridden through. Most of our time will be in Maine, with quick stops in Rhode Island and New Hampshire just to cross those off the map. Plan is to run a bit (or...

    Where did you ride?

We stop there about once a year on our way up to Galena. Twice a year if we are lucky enough to have the time. 84 along the river is a fun ride, Rt 2 east is another nice rolling ride. Our trip this year was through Missouri and Arkansas, to give some business to Lamonster and then Spyderpops...

    New to the forum - 2022 F3T

Welcome! And there are worse places to warm up to your Spyder. We loved our week in the Black Hills area. Enjoy!

Had to wear Gloves for Can Am riding course - Do you wear gloves? Why? Or why not?

99.99% of the time. I have and carry 3 types all the time and add battery heated gauntlets in the colder months. For all the reasons mentioned above, and I don't feel right without my gloves on.

    Vredestein tires

I have Vredsteins on the front and what a difference. I run at 19 psi and it sticks like glue! I went with an Altimax on the rear and am happy with that too.

    How Do You Ride?

I understand. On the volunteer side, you can get sucked in deep and lose any family time you have. I had to re-think my priorities at one point, and adjust my commitments. I still make what I can, and I teach at the state fire academy, but I learned how to appreciate time in general once I...

What do you carry for Travel Snacks?

Over the years we have our touring routine down pat. First day, we ususally have to make miles. A cooler with uncrustables, water, a bag of chips, some granola bars, and something sweet. That is for all day - usually 500+ miles. No stopping at a restaurant until day 1 is over. We both have a...

    How Do You Ride?

I answered no preference, but it doesn't vary on my mood - it varies on if we are pulling the trailer for a tour, or we are on a day/weekend trip with no trailer. Pulling the trailer, I limit myself to 75, just because I have that extra behind me. No trailer, I generally match the flow or a bit...

2025 Pulse and Origin Reveal - did they fail mileage hopes?

These are the two biggest problems I have with EV. I read somewhere, and I haven't had time to verify, that it takes a lot of miles before the EV or even Hybrids break carbon neutral. I would LOVE to see the data on that.

Are Dealers 'dumping' New-Old-Stock Spyders instead of selling latest models?

Ron, thank you for all the good points you make. Being relatively new to the Spyder world, I hope you're right. I hope BRP stays on track and starts to bolster their dealer network. I wonder if all those ambassadors give that feedback? It wouldbe so nice if the mothership actually listened to...

What do you think of the 'New for 2025 - Spyder Canyon'?

It's interesting. We have run across a fair share of gravel roads on our trips. Some of which we wouldn't have made on the S2S, but we hit them with the Victory at the time. The Canyon may or may not have made them either, hard to tell. Looks like fun, for a 2nd Spyder. I wouldn't give up the...

Quick trip to Eastern Tenn - Have any recommendations on roads to ride?

Lots of good info here, I appreciate everyone that took the time to give their ideas. I have nothing to add for roads, but rather, you guys have me missing the riding in Tennessee, especially the East Tenn roads. It's been too many years since we were there. It's likely my favorite area in this...

DID Make My Mind up! - Big D's Mighty Red Baron has Arrived!

Congrats on the bike, and the t-shirt! Here is a different perspective, I have been riding since 12 years old - starting on dirt. First vehicle when I got my drivers license was a dual sport Suzuki. I've owned and ridden cruisers, tourers, dual sports, but no sport bikes or trikes. I am a...
