• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Downshifting vs Braking

About a 50/50 split for me - depending on where and how I am riding. I'm not that aggressive, so I don't think I load up either system when slowing down.

BajaRon's Spyders & Rykers in the Smokies Rally & Poker Run

I would love to be there, eastern Tennessee is my favorite riding. We have scheduled our '24 trip already, and time off is at a premium, so only one trip for us this year. I hope it is a huge success and everyone has safe travels to and from, and while there.

After input on Handlebar risers... Anyone?

6"1" and I put the Lamonster riser on - made a huge difference in my comfort - gave me some bend in my arms. (I did rotate the bars foreward a bit as well). It seemed to open up my view of the mirrors also.

Is Spyderpops still a Sponsor? If not, anyone know why?

I just scheduled an install with them for our trip there in a few months, and have purchased a few things from them previously. Bummer they don't advertise here anymore, but they will still get my business. (I do also give my business to other advertisers here.)

Well, It Appears that my 2 Polls on Tires have Run their Course.

Thank you Ron! Very interesting to see the poll results and read the comments. I am getting the spring service done and all 3 tires changed in a couple of weeks (this week and next travelling for work, and not on the bike). With everything I have read, I am really looking forward to the ride...

    Lamont: Get Well My Friend

Get well soon, sir. I hope you get a ton of cards and letters.

Issues with Kenda Tires or Not?

No real reason, since this is my first Spyder and my first tire change on it. I read a ton of threads on here, and it seemed most were happy with either out back. I think BajaRon mentioned the Altimax 45 was a good fit recently, so I grabbed one. The Vredsteins on front seem to get an...

Issues with Kenda Tires or Not?

Wow! First vote :2thumbs: Coming up on 15,000 miles on original rubber and no issues. That being said, I have a General for the rear and two Vredsteins for the fronts in the garage and going to be put on at the spring service. Which I hope is in the next few weeks!

Shock Absorber Technical Questions - is Damping the same as Rebound? & more!

I love these threads where the members here flood us with knowledge. Even when my eyes glaze over and I start drooling a little because I can't follow what is being said, I still learn just a little. Trying to be funny, but truthfully, thank you guys for sharing your knowledge.

F3 Ltd - what kind of luggage bags do you use? Or a rack & extra bag?

I'm kinda late to this party, but I have an RT, and both Hopnel bags for the frunk and trunk, and went with the Spyderpops bags for the saddle bags. THe difference is night and day, the Spyderpops bags are tons higher quality, and in my opinion, worth every penny. I reviewed them and trying to...

Do you use motorcycle parking spaces?

As in life, I think the answer is it depends. I typically see regular trikes parked in mcy areas so I'm not here or there on the subject. If we are at an attraction that offers a decent size mcy area, I park there. If not, or at a grocery store, mall, etc will usually park in the main area.

    Riding Gear Poll

I picked head and hands, though we also wear boots on interstate days and local rides depending on the weather. There are different combos for different situations.

    Latest addons to my trailer

Very nice!! I like the set up and a home built at that! Question, though. We pull a little tag-a-long for our trips, trailer has been with us through multiple bikes. The Spyder beats the heck out of everything we carry in it - because of the un-sprung hitch. How does your cargo hold up with...

    No Competition for Can Am

I think most vehicle manufacturers make small changes for a time, then every so often do a major release, so CanAm isn't alone there (in my opinion). But GM or Ford or insert your favorite mfg here, not releasing a new truck platform for 3 or 5 years is significantly different, to blackphoenix's...

    Confessions on tour planning

This is what works for us. We choose "destination state" based on if we are riding or trailering. If we are riding, figure about 500 miles first day to get anywhere intersesting (read that as out of Illinois), trailering, we make 1,000 miles first day. Next would be a dive into what that...

    2024 Tour Planning

so after more research, some cool brochures arriving in the mail, we have our timeframe (not dates) in mind. Day 1 - Lamonsters Day 2- down to Hot Springs on Rt 7, we will catch the Pig Trail when we stay in Eureka Springs later in the trip. days in Hot Springs and a stop at Spyderpops for more...

    2024 Tour Planning

We tolerate heat/humidity pretty well. Both of us are "cold blooded" so we prefer heat over cool conditions. I appreciate that reminder.
