• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anybody put Elka Stage II shocks on a 2021 RTL? Spring down, or up?

I had them on my 2014RT and mounted them spring down. No issue. Combined with the Baja Ron sway bar, the bike handled excellently.

Bad news if you want a set of 165/60R-15 Vredestein Quatracs from tire rack!

I have the Conti 155/60R15 on my Spyder and it works just fine. I don't ride very aggressively, so I can't comment on it's performance at the edge. However, for touring and everyday use, it's good.

Has anyone else's 2022 Spyder RT Limited made this loud noise? Any ideas?

Perhaps your belt is misaligned and the snapping noise is the belt snapping back into place? You could jack the bike up and hand roll your back tire and watch belt movements. Or you could have some watch the belt as your drive it forward and backward very slowly on a straight and level surface.

Any ideas on adding an aftermarket USB for phone charging during travels on our 2017 RT?

I bought a small round waterproof USB charging port and dash mounted it. I then used a kit to battery mount it via relay, so it was key activated.

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

Yeah, most likely oversteering the machine. It's super common when coming from 2 wheels to 3. Some long-time riders have a steeper learning curve than novice riders who don't really know any different. As was stated, Spyders only require a very light touch on straight roads. If you grip the...

My (son's) New Tiger 900 Rally Pro

    I had a 2012 800 Tiger. One of my all-time favorite bikes.

Can anyone identify this? Found on top of Piston #1 on a 2015 RT 1330

It doesn't look like metal to me. It looks like normal carbon fouling from either too rich fuel mix or burning a little oil. The color of the plug indicates one or both of these conditions are present. Too rich a fuel mix is the easier problem to chase. However, I'd suggest replacing the...

What are these Brake pad "liners" called and where can we order new ones?

What it could be is the rotors are made in the same Chinese factory as other Can Am parts and they're only produced under license. So, they really aren't Brembo.

What are these Brake pad "liners" called and where can we order new ones?

Those items are called brake pad shims or anti-squeal shims. IMO, EBC HH pads are better quality than the OEM Brembo units, and don't really require those shims. (Brembo pads are good, but are prone to squealing.). However, you can reinstall the shims onto the EBC pads if you want. It's...

What are your thoughts on Magic Mirrors or Magnetic Mirror mounts for a 2016 RT Limited?

Sorry, Jay, but respectfully, I don't agree with you on this point. Even doing it the correct way, those mounts are super fragile and over time will and do fail. Those little spring clips are garbage. IMO, the MM are the hot ticket for long term ownership.

    2012 RT experiencing mushy brakes

As stated, the older Spyders had Chinese brakes that were knock-off Brembo units. They were not that good and were replaced by real Brembo Brakes on the newer models. Can Am wouldn't have bitten that bullet unless they were forced.

"Check Key" Msg on display - Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

I remember years ago there was a thread posted about how to disable the DESS antenna, so maybe some diligent searching will give you the results you're asking for.

Wish I had not gone with a Vredestien Tire

On my 2014 RT I tried this size of tire, but I don't remember the brand anymore. It worked perfectly well. No issue whatsoever. (y)

Does a Handlebar Riser exist for a 2012 RTS?

I believe your only option is the OEM Can Am tri-axis handlebar riser kit.

What's with the Herky Jerky on first cold start-up of each day? Any thoughts?

Both my previous 2014 RT and my current 2020 RTL do that as well. I also think it just a rather cold blooded beast due to various sensors and overly lean fuel mapping to comply with modern environmental standards.

Bad news if you want a set of 165/60R-15 Vredestein Quatracs from tire rack!

That's what I've got on mine and I'm totally satisfied with this tire.

2014 RT won't start - “Mode button” doesn’t work. Any ideas, or where to start looking?

I too suggest looking at the battery first off.

What do you think is the Best Full Cover For Travel? How big is the storage pouch?

I too use a half cover for travel and a full cover for longer term storage. Traveling with a full sized cover seems to take up too much real estate.

What is the function of the Rear signature light on an RTL? How does it turn on & off?

I assume they refer to it as a signature light because, as I stated before, it's a left over from the previous RT models. They probably are calling it a "signature" light to hide the fact that they're recycling an old part on a new model. I think the license plate light and "signature" back up...
