• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

6-Speed Manual Marginalized in 2018 lineup

Looking at the 2018 Spyder web page, it appears that the MT is only available on the F3-S and the Base RT. The other models list only the push-button transmission. As someone who prefers a manual clutch, I'm disappointed to see this. However, I understand that the take rate on the MT is pretty...

    Spyderfest Backroad Ride Clip

If anybody asks what you were up to last week, you can show them this (4 minute clip). [The upper left suspension arm makes a great location to mount a camera.]

Has your Spyder hurt your two-wheel riding skills?

I took my little Honda 125 out for a ride yesterday, and I noticed that I was habitually stopping using the rear brake only. I have been riding motorcycles for 35 years and would have NEVER done that prior to buying my Spyder. Fortunately, my RS-S has a manual trans, so at least I've stayed...

Accessory power tap: Battery terminals or wiring harness?

I want to add a few electrical farkles to my 2013 RS-S, nothing too high amperage, just a USB charger and some LED marker lights. Most of the advice I've read searching this forum seems to recommend simply running aux leads from the battery terminals. That has the advantages of easy installation...

Smackdab Summer Solstice Run –*Kansas to North Dakota!

This is not specifically a Spyder ride, but my wife and I will be making the run on our Spyders next summer.

    On-board Video

Just got back from a four-day trip exploring Northwest Arkansas. On a couple of random legs, I strapped a digital action cam to my RS-S and followed my wife through the countryside, including some excursions on dirt/gravel roads. Here's 6½ minutes of excerpts. I typically strap the camera to the...

    Another 2014 Triple Impression

SZ-Spydie and I both test rode '14 RT-Limiteds with the BRP road show at Spyderfest. A few random impressions: - The triple really is remarkably smooth and torque-y right from idle. No more need to keep it over 4 grand. - On the other hand, it doesn't sound nearly as nice as the v-twin. In...

Spyderfest '14: Anybody else at the Baymont Inn?

We're staying at the Baymont Inn at Glenstone and US-60 for the second year. There were a few other Spyderfest'ers there last year, but not a lot. Anybody else staying there this year?

    Laser Alignment avail at SpyderFest?

Does anybody know if I will be able to get a laser alignment on my '13 RS-S while at SpyderFest? I am unsure of what vendor to contact.

    Be Like A Ninja

I get things like this all the time in e-mails or on Facebook, and normally they're hackneyed stuff not worth sharing. But I liked this more than I expected. Thought I'd pass it along. Be Like A Ninja Be silent. Only speak when it benefits others. Be meditative. Spend plenty of time in your...

    Wakey, wakey!

So, yea, this got my attention. Fortunately, there were no others following her, because there were seven Spyders and a Gold Wing following me!

    800 miles on '13 RS-S: Impressions

Last Thursday afternoon, I traded in my Suzuki S50 on a brand-new new RS-S SM5. I took it on a 750 mile trip over the weekend, and it left me with a couple of impressions: 1) I love the seat. It was comfortable for a full tank of gas. Roomy enough that I could move forward and back enough to...

    Sig Maps

So, those of you with log maps in your signatures, what is your criteria for choosing what states to "color in"? ...Are you listing only those states you've been to with your current machine, or over your whole life? Do you include trips on other types of trikes/motorcycles, or just your...

Vary the RPMs during break-in..but by how much?

I'm picking up my new RS-S tomorrow, just in time to leave with a couple of other riders on a 600-700 mile loop through central KS. Unfortunately, my first day's ride will be mostly Interstate. I know the recommendation is to avoid steady-RPM cruising during break-in, so how much do I need to...

Would you be interested in a tiliting trike?

Over the last couple of days, the motorcycle blog kneeslider.com has run several posts about tilting trikes (meaning they lean like a motorcycle in turns). I noticed that several commentators mentioned the Spyder unfavorably, basically condemning it for not being a tilting trike. The implication...

A couple of Spyderfest Vendor Village pics

Here's what the Price Cutter Park parking lot looked like at about 2:30 Friday afternoon, during a rare moment when the wind and rain let up: And what it looked like 23 hours later, lining up for Saturday's "Mystery Ride": Everybody thought the rain was over for good at that point! (Yea...

RS vs. RSS - same sway bar?

I know that the RSS has upgraded shocks, but are there any other changes made to the suspension and steering over the standard RS? Is the sway bar the same between the two models, or is the RSS stiffer? (EDIT: Specifically, I am referring to 2013 models)

Spyderfest may have pushed me over the edge!

I came down from Kansas City with my wife [SZ-Spydie] and her RT. I was on my trusty Suzuki Boulevard S50. (I think it was the only vehicle in the ballfield parking lot without some kind if fairing or windshield!) I've always been impressed by Spyders and encouraged SZ-Spydie to buy hers, but I...

Spyderfest - I love the rain!

Thanks to everyone who stayed away from Vendor Village because of the slight excess humidity! You allowed SZ-Spydie to get LED front fender lights, Bajaron sway bar, highway pegs, Spyderpops skid guard and wind wings installed on her RT today! Woo-hoo! There was hardly any wait and in some cases...
