• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Controlling volume of rear speakers while listening to the radio

I thought my passenger audio controls were broken as when listening to the radio, the left and right buttons allow you to go to the next radio station but up and down have no effect on volume from the rear speakers. In fact, the sound output from them is significantly lower than the front ones...

Dealer Called for 600 mile Service Appointment on my 2014 RT-S

I've been pleased with my dealer so far and like them as good folks to do business with. They bolted the BRP Driver's Backrest on and let me ride it for several hundred miles before deciding to buy it, which I thought was a great idea since seats and seat rests can't be evaluated on a short 10...

At what speed does the parking brake cease to operate?

I realized the electronic parking brake is located in an easy to use area right next to other switches that you may use while in motion and I got to thinking, what happens if you accidentally hit the parking brake switch while moving? I hit it at 1 or 2 MPH and it stopped the bike immediately...

Right cable for 2014 RT-S and iPhone 5S

I read all the posts related to iPhone integration but don't think they addressed specifically how you connect a 2014 RT-S to an iPhone 5S. The RT-S came with the 9 pin to iPhone 4 cable. I went and got the expensive Apple iPhone 4 to 5S adapter ($50 with shipping) and as soon as I plugged the...

    Smells funny breaking in

Got to take the new 2014 RT-S for a ride this morning in the Texas Hill Country. Sorry northern guys but it was sunny and 73 degrees. Perfect. Got a good 100 mile loop in going the back way up to Medina Lake Dam over to Park Road 37 and back home. One thing I've noted as it is breaking in is...

Bought it and brought it home - 2014 RT-S

Picked up my 2014 RT-S in yellow (of course) last night and only got 39 miles to ride it home but absolutely love it. I know, I know, post a pic. Will get to it but I'm at work. There is absolutely no comparing my old 2008 Spyder to this one. Smoother, more stable, more confidence inspiring...

    SE6 or SM6?

Went and visited Yamaha Fun Center in Boerne, TX this last week to see the RT-S in person and will be scheduling test rides and pulling the trigger this weekend. The question is...which transmission? SE6 or SM6? I had the SM5 on my old 2008 Spyder and liked it just fine, but for a $1,500...

Back to Spyder and Looking for Dealer Recommendations in San Antonio

Back in 2008, I saw a Spyder on the highway and immediately knew I had to get one. Two months later, I'm at Joe Harrison Honda and bought a 2008 SM5 in bright yellow. Immediately started converting it into a sort of touring bike with the handlebar risers, mirror extensions, Cal-Sci windshield...

Spyder running hot with Hindle and Evoluzione O2 modifier

Ok, I've always thought that the plastic around the Spyder makes them run a bit hotter than I'd like, but then again, I live in Texas where it's still hot out. When I swapped out the stock pipe for the Hindle, I also installed the SpyderPops Missing Air Dam and I noticed that the Spyder ran much...

A new world record. Sort of....

Ok, this morning on the way to work I finally broke 5,000 miles on my Spyder. The world record is how long it took. I picked it up in July 2008 and just crossed 5K this morning. I ride it nearly every day to work but I only live 3.9 miles from work. On the plus side, it has been garage kept at...

    Close Call - Be Vigilant

I had a close call this morning. The first in quite a while. I was stopped at a light to turn left onto a busier road known for light runners, I waited until my light turned green for a second or two, looked at the truck and determined he was stopping. I got to the edge of the lane when idiot...

    Security of the RT Trailer

I got a chance to look at the RT trailer this weekend and noted that while nicely done, I can't imagine it would be too tough to break into one parked at the motel at night. Does anyone have any insight as to the security of leaving your stuff in a trailer while parked at a motel or similar...

    My Lucky Day

Me and a couple of co-workers were walking through our parking garage on our way to lunch today and my buddy nearly stepped on a motorcycle license plate and holder. MY license plate and holder:yikes: My first thought was someone stole my Spyder and threw it in the back of a truck and the...

Texas Spyder Get Together in La Grange - Aw Haw Haw Haw

We had about eight different Texas Spyder Ryders get together yesterday at a little BBQ joint out round La Grange. They got some good BBQ. It was a lot of fun and great to see so many Spyders, as Verb would say it "outside of the dealership: :2thumbs:

Odd report of Spyder Accident in SA Newspaper

This story caught my eye in the local San Antonio newspaper this morning involving a Spyder accident. The blurb printed in the paper was different than the one on-line with the printed version going into the fact that it is a Can Am motorcycle like vehicle with two wheels in front and one in the...

Has the lack of mainstream advertising hurt Spyder sales?

BRP went a different way to introduce and spread market awareness of the Sypder using the web, demo rides and lot of informal word of mouth advertising to get the word out. While I don't have actual numbers, to my knowledge, BRP has sold under 10,000 units worldwide. I wonder if they had used...

    Tire pressure recommendations

Hey all I searched first to see if there was a consensus on tire pressure recommendations but it didn't seem conclusive. I've already jacked up the front and rear pre-load springs to max settings and would assume tire pressure is the next setting to mess with. Any suggestions would be...

    Be careful with those windshields

The other day, when I was re-installing my Cal-Sci windshield after my NMN 4" riser install, I did a really dumb thing.....I wound up over torquing the windshield :yikes: and cracked it in all four holes. I should have known better as the initial install was with a screwdriver torx bit and it...

    Cornering technique

I found an old thread from March regarding this subject and wanted to see if the collective had additional experience to share. I was riding two up yesterday and came on a blind curve to the left. It was a 60 MPH road and the sign warned to take it at 45. I went in around 50 and as it curved...

    Overheating - Redux

I searched the forum for "overheating" before posting this. Maybe I'm just a worrier, took a short bus to school or there was Crack in my Cheerios, but if I'm not mistaken, the :spyder:is VERY prone to overheating or at least, riding very hot as registered on the heat gauge. Granted, I've only...
