• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Exhaust Pipe Extensions

Under "Can Am Spyder" on EBay, I saw a short extension for the exhaust pipes, stating that you get less noise and more performance---so instead of spending $33, I measured the pipes (2 coming out of the muffler), went to Home Depot and got a chrome pipe that fit over the exhaust pipes. One is...

    ISCI Hand Brake

The ISCI people know what they are doing----the hydro brake kit is beautifully done, professional in every way, and the instructions, written by Robert, a guy who knows how to tell you "How To," and it functions like part of the original Spyder package. This brake made the Spyder a completely...

    Checking The California Map---------

-------because I'll be 74 years old this month, and, now that I have confidence in the "Black Widow," I'm going to take off up the coast---heading for Cambria and points north----if only this rainy weather will finally end. I have been a teacher in Southern California for 45 years---so I think...

    In The Rain------

........for the first time out riding, my friend and I got soaked with rain on our way to "Cook's Corner," where we stood outside drinking a beer in the drizzle------I tell you, the "Black Widow" handled the rain like a champ---so impressed. It took the curves on the wet black-top, down through...

    Bought a Two-Wheeler-----

----------------Since selling my Honda ST 1100 and getting the Spyder, I was missing a two-wheel ride---today, Bill at Mission Motorsports in Irvine called me, and said,"You gotta see this"---so I went over, and he took a special trade-in: 2007 Honda Shadow VT 750 Aero with 487 miles---Black...

    Hit Bottom-----

------when riding down a hill at about 50mph, there was a sharp rise at the bottom, up the other side----When I hit the bottom and immediately started up, the bottom of the Spyder dragged on the street and bounced at the bottom----got it home and coundn't see anything wrong---ran fine----and I'm...

    Installed KewlMetal Peg Mounts

--------I had plactic all over the garage---took me about 5 hours, but I got the peg mounts installed, and they are as solid as a rock---now I'll find a good set of foot pegs----I'm impressed with the KewlMetal organization so far-----I've read so negative criticisim----but I had a good...

    Squeeeeeeky Brakes

During my last couple of rides, coming to a slow stop was hard on the ears with so much squealing from both front brake pads----so----having read on this forum that CRC Brakleen works well----I got some. Using my new sissor jack, I lifted each front wheel---took them off one at a time---put a...

    Lifting the Spyder

When I take my trip up the Pacific Coast, I am taking some tools---also a sissor jack. If a tire should need removing to fix it, where are the points or positions under the Spyder for placing the jack??---for the front wheels and the rear wheel???----SSSS

    The New Brake Pads

The "service bulletin--2009-4" that I found on this forum tells that the original brake pads are developing some trouble. With only 1,900 miles on my SE5, the brakes are making lots of noise on every stop now. My dealer told me that the new pads are much better and will not make the stopping...

    Modified the Corbin Seat--------

-----------I explained earlier that, since I'm fairly tall, the new Corbin seat forced me too far forward, and my legs were bent too much. My feet were not comfortable on the rider pegs. Today, I took the Corbin seat off---removed the rivets under the back----removed about 3 pounds of foam...

    Really Disappointed

I ordered and got my blank key from BRP----I have been running around both Saturday and Sunday(5 different places), and can find no one/place that can cut the key for me. They all have the computer--die cutting machines, basicly for autos---poor guys try , but there is no fit---they ground one...

    New Key Problem

I odered a new/extra key from my dealer (who has no idea if the key has a coded chip or not), and received it yesterday. The dealer said to go get the key cut---bring it back to them, and they will try and find out if it needs coding or not. I could not find one Key maker/locksmith who had the...

    BRP Satisfaction Survey

After buying so many new motorcycles over the years, never was I mailed a "satifaction survey." I received the BRP survey via email today---it was gracefully worded, and it was an excellent set of questions. I appreciated BRP's concern and interest in me as a buyer, and I gave the survey an...

    Kewlmetal Peg Brackets

I really like these brackets, and they attach on the motor mount bolts. After looking under my SE5, now knowing where the motor mount bolts are, I'm pretty sure I can fabricate my own mounts---has anyone loosened those motor mount bolts?? If you did, are there any problems to consider?? One...

    1930s Technoloogy ??

I have to admit that my '08 Spyder SE5, since getting the replacement oil pressure spring, has run well---shifting and all----but I get this feeling that I'm riding on a potential problem or breakdown---giving me very little comfort in taking my trip in the next few weeks. After having owned...

    Oil Leak

Before I had the new spring in stalled on my SE5, the engine was dry with no signs of an oil leak---now, after the new spring was installed to improve the shifting, I notice a couple small oil spots on the garage floor----it is a bit wet underneath on the left side---no really big leak, but wet...

    SE5 Owners

Today, I had the "recall" completed on my SE5---they installed a new, longer and stronger oil pump spring, and it took them about 2 hours. This made a major difference in the gear-shifting process---it shifts without the jerking, hesitations; instead, this SE% is smooth, quick, and efficient...

Carrying a Jack for Tire Repairs

Has anyone had a flat tire while traveling on a Spyder? A floor jack will work at home, but what about on the road? I measured from the frame to the floor, and you only have about 4 or 5 inches. I'm thinking that a small quality sissor jack may work best----what do you think?
