• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F3 Coolant Tank Not So Hard To Replace - Here's how I replaced mine!

After my wife saw an alert on Facebook about F3 coolant tank explosions I checked hers and, sure enough, the leaking tank seam had left lots of dried, orange coolant on the mounting flange. It’s a 2020 with 39,000 miles. 1. Make sure to have a helper handy to remove the right hand side panel...

F3L Parking Brake locking on - any advice?

Solution: You need a 13mm wrench as well, to remove the bolt that holds the parking brake caliper lever onto the caliper assembly. Fancy having to carry a 12mm and 13mm wrench, and a pair of wheel chocks now. Even though this should go through the recall for this problem (the recall expires...

F3L Parking Brake locking on - any advice?

After backing out of the garage the parking brake would not release. After checking a thread or two I loosened the adjusters on the cable at the caliper and removed the cable from its bracket. The brake was still partly held on, but at least I could push the bike back into the shed. Today, as...

    F-3 Tire Recommendations

Actually, that's not quite true The tyre you have referenced has a considerably smaller diameter, which gears the bike down. It would be like comparing a big rear sprocket with a small.

    Kenda Kanine rear tire trial!

Use a temp gun to work out what is happening with your tyre pressures Hi Peter. I'm sure your warning is well intentioned, but it looks a bit over the top. I've done over 3,000 miles at 20 psi in the back tyre without problems, some of it in temperatures over 100F, and much of it at 75 and...

F3T Belt Tensioner failure - anyone else?

Did you fit that yourself? How long ago (miles) was it fitted? It is obvious (to me, anyway) that the tensioner has skewed sideways because with a correctly installed tensioner the tensioner arm could never contact the belt, as it obviously has from your photos. I can tell you what most...

Windshields - What height would you recommend?

I'm a similar height, in my upper body at least. The 19" worked reasonably well for me, although there was still a little bit of buffeting on my wife's L. When my wife went to a 17" so she could see over it rather than have to look through it I found her SPYDER unpleasant to ride at speed...

    2021 F3L Exhaust

You CAN have a deep exhaust sound My wife, who came from Houston, burst out laughing when I read her your description of the seat discomfort you are experiencing - swamp fanny indeed! Have you tried a sheep skin? They certainly work well for us in Arizona, in the dry and monsoon seasons. As...

    Kenda Kanine rear tire trial!

Do NOT run rear Kanines at 24 psi! Try 20 psi one-up. My wife has already worn out a rear Kanine at 17,000 miles. 24 psi is way too high! We were running 23 psi for 15,000 miles and it wore terribly in the centre - I posted photos several weeks ago - I dropped it to 20 but it did not help the...

    Kenda Kanine rear tire trial!

It will probably wear the centre out at that. We are now running 20 psi all round on our F3s and F3L. I used an IR thermometer to check the tread and sidewall temps and they are even across the tread, with no more than one degree difference from either side or in the centre. Sidewall temps...

    Nanny and Kanines

It was quite possibly the road surface that highlighted the issue. A concrete surface does not provide as much grip as hotmix, which is the universal surface type in most of Arizona. You can get some concrete at certain intersections, especially if there is a bus stop with its own lane just...

    Kenda kanines?

It is not wearing evenly, but that would probably be a result of running 23 psi, possibly a little more earlier on. The centre tread depth is 2.5 mm near the wear bar, as shown in the photo. That 2.5 mm reading is the tread depth in the groove, not the depth of the wear bar.

    Kenda kanines?

That's the most even wear I've ever seen on a rear tyre - do you know what pressures it was running? Here is a rear Kanine at 15,000 miles on a 2019 F3L, inflated to 23 psi cold (obviously too high). What are good/acceptable pressures for the rear? We both ride pretty hard and fast -...

    Rear tire wear pattern

The increased or uneven wear wold be insignificant, even if you could suspend a passenger on one side of the rear of the bike, since the weight is transferred to the centre point between the two front wheels. The rear wheel "pivots" to the left or the right around this centre point. In other...

    Rear tire wear pattern

If that was the case the wear would be on the right side edge, not the left. Remember, when the bike turns to the right, just like a four wheel vehicle it leans out to the left. Hence, the wear on the left edge (which I can't see in the picture, anyway).

    Rally Front Shock Positioning

In practice I doubt that anyone, even the most experienced of us, would be able to notice any difference. Since all shocks at this level are "gas-charged" (what a misnomer) they will function the same in either position. In effect, every damping device with a metal shaft which goes in and out...

    I think I can, I think I can

Fuel consumption is totally related to the speed at which you drive and the load (weight, gradient and wind speed and direction) on the machine. One other factor is the amount of throttle input and how you maintain throttle input. Speeding up to keep up with traffic uses more fuel than holding...
