• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Using a Snowmobile Trailer for Spyders

You can tie your Spyder down in a remarkably small area if you get creative with your tiedown straps. You'll need the most restraint in the forward direction (vehicles stop MUCH faster than they accelerate). In the USAF, we assumed a required eight Gs of forward restraint -- that's eight times...

If you've ever wished you had a dictionary definition for certain tools, look no farther! DRILL PRESS: A tall upright machine useful for suddenly snatching flat metal bar stock out of your hands so that it smacks you in the chest and flings your beer across the room, denting the...

    Personal suport needed

Child abuse is a plague in this country -- you're experiencing its far-reaching effects decades after the fact. The statistics are astounding... In one study researchers went to great lengths to protect participant anonymity. They found nearly one in three of the adult women participants...

Neck warmers! They came to me in a dream last night! And, they really exist!

Not necessarily a neck warmer... While not necessarily a "neck warmer" per se, this little gem makes winter riding much more bearable -- especially for the Spyder as the wind off the front end seems to hit the helmet on an upward vector...

    Spyder....A Poor Performer?

Scotty, The only performance numbers in a review I've seen posted so far came from MSN -- an organization not noted (as far as I know) for motorcycle testing. I posted previously on the inherent difficulties of getting top acceleration performance from a motorcycle-type vehicle such as the...

    Helmet laws

Give me liberty, or give me... a helmet? And here we see the fruit of long years of a "nanny state." Our government has managed to convince (many of) us we need protection from ourselves... Should we enact laws to prevent irresponsibility if the result of that irresponsibility affects only...

    Anxiety attack - need advice

I really don't think you'll have too much trouble. Relax your grip and take it easy for the first few miles. Most people over-control because they're holding the grips too tight and every little jostle of your upper body gets transmitted to the steering. Besides, just because traffic is going...

    Spyder....A Poor Performer?

Getting a motorcycle-type vehicle thru the quarter mile in the shortest/fastest time possible is not a matter of hopping on and running thru the gears. The testers that ride motorcycles for a living run bikes down the track a number of times with different pressures in the tires and different...

Well why didn't you just tell us when the discussion started; you coulda saved us all a bunch of time! Of course, even tho you knew the outcome, I see you read to the end.;) Just goes to show, what else would we be doing if we weren't here reading undead threads? Regards, Mark

    Gas Octane

I understand you believe the Spyder does not incorporate a knock sensor (I suspect you are right), but you must understand there are just too many "Internet experts" out there to take another poster's word on technical details. If you have a source that may be independently verified please share...

    Gas Octane

Ahhhh, I see what you're saying. *If* that's the case, then theoretically the computer wouldn't retard timing -- or retard it as much -- if you use higher octane. But that means you would only realize the increased performance from the higher octane during those times when the knock sensor is...
