• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Did it at last - brought home my next Last Bike!

And I made room in MY garage for another scooter (Piaggio BV400) to keep my Vespa company. Ride well Dean, you got a good one!

    Goodbye F3L....

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my 2020 F3L. It has been a great relationship but developments at home require that I stay around and no more multi-day trips. And I entrusted it to a good home, I'm sure. Old Timer knows his way around a motorcycle (even though they were mostly two-wheeled...

Is the base F3 the sportiest model?

No, it is not a DIRT BIKE as such but with an enclosed drive shaft and ability to pretty much turn off the nanny, it is a great gravel road bike. I do agree though that the F3S is a better choice in his case. The Ryker was an "entry level" Spyder for me, for the price as much as anything. But...

Is the base F3 the sportiest model?

Or up a tooth on the front....one tooth on the front equals several on the rear. Did that mainly on my KLR for the highway.

Is the base F3 the sportiest model?

Ryker vs F3 I traded my 2018 Ryker Rally in on my 2020 F3L. So the F3L is NOT the sportiest but I got it for touring. The Ryker, while a blast on dirt roads in TX, was not, IMHO, great for the open highway. I love the CVT on my Vespa, no so much on the Ryker. However, the power from the 900...

Trunk Lid Dropping - any adjustment or fix?

Aha! Hidden struts! mea culpa! I should have realized that the struts everyone was talking about were hidden behind the passenger back rest. Now I have my job lined up for today.... Fast forward to this pm. I pulled the backrest and to my surprise, there is one strut that is held in place...

Trunk Lid Dropping - any adjustment or fix?

There must have been several iterations of the trunk: my 2020 F3L has neither a strut nor an 'orange release lever.' The hold position is built into the hinge as near as I can tell. A stick solves the problem.

Help with a phone mount please - can I simply get a longer bolt?

I just took the original bolt to the hardware store and got one with the correct threads but longer. Mounted a RAM ball there for my GPS.

    Defective lamonster belt tensioner?

The key is "to a (totable?) level." Or a 'tolerable' level. I've been unable to find a 'sweet spot' so have it at a tolerable level.

Trunk Lid Dropping - any adjustment or fix?

I have the same issue but mine started with the addition of the rack. It is just heavy enough that the lid won't stay up. A stick solved the problem on my trip to AK. I don't think there is anything wrong, it is just a weak (spring?).

Madstad windshield for Ltd - close to perfect for me!

I just installed a 20" clear on my 2020 F3L and took it for a cruise. It is as close to perfect as I can expect (I'm 5'10") at the lowest and 'most vertical' position. If I were riding with my Airhawk, I might want to move it up a little but now I'm looking over the top just as I like. In TX...

Spyder radio is worthless - any solution to this problem?

Really? I put songs on a thumb drive, plugged it into the USB in the trunk and .....how do you get it to play even fairly good? The only options for 'source' are radio and 'aux' and aux wants me to configure my bluetooth! a little explanation please, even by PM.

Spyder radio is worthless - any solution to this problem?

Well, opinions are like.....never mind! Riding across WestTexas requires some kind of noise other than the engine and programming in radio stations along the route seemed like a good idea. Didn't work. Horrible reception is the gremlin. Now if I could just locate 'Joel the Biker's' posted...

2021 F3 Ltd has awful Radio reception - where's the antenna plug?

At the risk of redundancy, where is the offending ground strap located? I did pull the antenna leads apart and clean them (primarily located under the passenger seat on the Ltd) but the ground strap? No idea and I don't have access to a 'shop manual.' And oddly enough, I installed a shorter...

Are the New Speakers from Slingmods worth it?

I have cleaned much of it off but didn't notice any difference; may try again now that temps are up and wind is down... That yellow stuff is a pita to get off!

Are the New Speakers from Slingmods worth it?

Stock radio sucks The stock radio is crap, can't imagine why I would want different speakers. Sure the sound might be better but the range is the problem. If I get more than 5 miles from the towers, the signal goes south (while I go north......) I swapped out the stock antenna for an...

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

Hmm, maybe now.....During my 23 years as a LEO, and many high speed pursuits, as well as high speed non-pursuits (getting to an emergency for example), I never heard of replacing the brake fluid. I will say that this was about the time disk brakes were being introduced to cars. Maybe drum...

    Hit a Buck last night...

When I was riding in the whitetail infested Hill Country of TX, I outfitted my daily rider with an ACTIVE deer alert and I know it saved me on several occasions. The sound seemed to freeze them in place. In NM now, it is Elk that pose the 'biggest' danger!

2023 Ryker 900 - anyone done any long trips?

Evesdropping ..... I traded my FJR1300 and my Ryker Rally for an F3 Limited (see avatar). I rode the Ryker about 600 miles from the dealer where I picked it up to my house. I think it was a week before I could sit comfortably! I had over 95k on the FJR and loved every mile of it, 3k on the...

Gas strut for trunk on the RT

I read a bunch of replies then jumped ahead, hope I didn't miss the answer to MY issue! I added a rack to the top of the box on my F3 Limited, easy with the supplied 'dimples'. But now the box lid will not stay open. I carried a stick on my trip to AK last year but would like to figure out a...
