• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just a warning. The 6,250 mile service estimate was over $500. BRP requires a check on the valves or some sort of expensive thing. So I threw in about 15 warranty items to check:rolleyes:. Might as well ordered a face lift and tummy tuck.:joke:

My dealer told me it would be around $200. It's about 2 hours labor, according to them. This is about the same pricing as the 625 mile service.

Reminds me of a joke. A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop. The surgeon was waiting for the service manager to take a look at his bike. The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey Doc, can I ask you a question?" The surgeon, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its 'heart', take valves out, fix'em, put'em back in; and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get such a measly salary and you get the really big bucks when you and I are doing basically the same kind of work?"
The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic, "Try doing it with the engine running."

have the dealer recheck the maint. schedule...

or not. Look in your book under maint. schedule. there is a * comment requiring the mechanic to do more extensive work. :coffee:

I'm going to be optimistic on this. I'll let you know more after I talk with them next time, I'm there.

My Spyder has not yet arrived.

I just checked with my Dealer and talked to the mechanic. He has done a couple of spyders and did one twice because the guy was going out west. No shims replaced yet. They were all within tolerences. The one he did twice was done at 6,000 miles and then again at 15,000 miles. I know they have to be checked but it is nice to know these engines are durable. He did tell me it is about 3 hours unless an oil change is done as well but they charge you the labour anyway when changing oil be cause of the panel removal. Warranty requires us to take it in to the dealer anyway.

agreed, I bought the extended warranty due to the "new" product...not worried about the engine but I keep my toys forever and worried about the frame cracking or something along that line....so into the shop it went. This will be the longest that I have been without my bike since I picked it up last Feb. I'm a sad, lonely puppy this week. :(
